Hi everyone
My Name is Mark and i was diagnosed with crohn's disease right before thanksgiving in 2001. I was 21 at the time and it took the doctors quite some time to diagnose me correctly. I was seeing the doctor on campus at my school and he kept telling me it was a torn muscle that was causing all my symptons. I didn't have any feaver or anything just pain and bleeding when i would use the restroom. Finally i went back to my home on weekend and went to a doctor there, They did Exploritory surgery and found that i had 3 ulcers the size of quarters in my colon. The doctor didn't know what to do so he cleaned out the infection, closed me up and sent me to a specialist. That next day they put me into surgery for an ileostomy and that made me feel 100% better. I had that for about 6-7 months before they reversed it. I have had a few bad flare ups since then and been put in the hospital about 4 times since then but nothing serious and nothing requiring surgery. I am doing ok but have been taking remicade since 2001 hoping to keep me healthy. Its a tough road and i came here to find more information and see what i might be able to do in my life to make things easier and get my health more under control. I look forward to meeting more people on this site and making new friends and help where i can.
