I went to the specialist today. At first, I thought maybe I had wasted my time because my GI's office had neglected to send copies of my latest enterography to the specialist's office. I explained that there had been signs of inflammation on my latest test. I further stated that my doctor's office said if this happened they would send me to the specialist and probably switch biologics on me. After that, the doctor said he would like to see the latest enterography but after that he will probably switch me to Humira. I asked about the Imuran because I had been on it for several years. He said a possible side effect is lymphoma. He said he would probably, at first, combine the Imuran and the Humira together if I understood correctly. Then they will eventually phase the Imuran out. I called my GI's office so they can fax the latest test over. I love my GI but sometimes the staff isn't the best.

Sorry to hear about the lack of communication between specialists Ron,,,and hope they soon get their acts together for you.
Let's hope the Humira will help you soon.

Ds is 12 and started humira at age 9
So three and half years
Injections are quick
But the med burns
We add lidocaine to the humira syringe which lessens the burn of the med

Hope you get sorted and feel better soon Ron.
It's so annoying when things go awry with paperwork etc. We put our trust in these people and it is worrying when they get careless. But of course,it helps to know we're not the only ones who need help and no-one's invincible.

Good luck ron, I was on Humira for 5 yrs nearly & did pretty well on it. First of all I used the pens but found they stang a lot. So I ended up switching to the syringes. A good tip I read on here was to hold a frozen bag of peas on the area you're going to inject, then use the alcohol swab & inject. Painless 99% of the time.
Hope it works for you

Sometimes we can't win Ron...I have had so many adverse reactions to various drugs.
Hope you do well with the Humira..

I hope if you move to Humira that it works well for you Ron.

You did understand correctly Ron. It is not uncommon to continue with Imuran for the first couple of years of biologic treatment as a way of hopefully reducing the risk of antibody buildup. Then after about the two year mark of successful biologic treatment withdraw the Imuran.

Good luck!

I used Humira- at first I used the auto injections- and for me the pain was unbelievable
during the few seconds injection time. When i used the "traditional" injection it was maybe a little sting. Allow it to warm up first and inject a little slower.

Good luck I hope it helps!

I talked to someone in my specialist's office. The Crohn's is indeed active and they want me to start on Humira. I have to go back for information on health card and an order for a shot for tuberculosis.
