Has anyone had this from Azathioprine? I'm not sure how serious it is. I had been on a higher dose for a month, and after my blood tests the GI called me and told me to stop taking them, that my blood tests were low. I have to go in and get the blood tests redone in a few days to see if getting off helped. I really couldn't ask the doctor too many questions on the phone, because I was really being sick that day. Mainly I just notice that I get very out of breath, and have to do everything bit by bit. I'm not working at the moment, thankfully.

Various members here have had it and it is EXTREMELY serious. Please be sure to follow your GIs orders in which case you'll be fine.

I finally got a call back from my doctor about the test results. Blood counts are still low, he is especially worried about my white blood cell count. So I have to stay off aza for another two weeks. I intend to go back on it at a lower dose, because it works in healing up my fistulas. I get so many at a time that surgery is not an option. :(
