naltrexone?

Hi my name is Eric, I am a new member and was hoping to get some information on a medication called naltrexone. I heard that on a low dose naltrexone can help people with crohns. I have introduced the idea to my doctor and he is reluctant since he hasn't heard of it being used for crohns patients. He said the idea is not completely off the table but he would like to talk to other doctors who have used this medication to see what they have said. If anyone could share there experience with naltrexone, a question I have is if naltrexone worked for you were you able to start having a normal diet again? Also if any one is comfortable sharing there doctors name so that I could give my doctor a list of other doctors who have had success with this drug it would be most appreciated.

I was on LDN for a little while (A few months) in combination with Pentasa (Mesalamine) and the SCD. At the time I had a mild case and it only took two months of following the diet strictly to put me in remission. It had me feeling amazing within just a few weeks, but after those two months I was able to eat anything. Unfortunately I went off the meds and the diet and well, my crohn's came back with a vengence and now it's a moderate case and I've landed myself on a humira regimen. LDN is definitely worth a try if you can get your doctor to give the go ahead. Just a word of advice, once you find a medicine and a diet that works for you, stick to it until it doesn't work anymore. I would kill to go back to the days where a few weeks of hardcore dieting could solve all my problems.
