I was diagnosed with Crohn's in July of 2010 and put on Humira injections every two weeks. Since then, I have been in the hospital with a bacterial infection of my toe, MY TOE. and now have chronic ear infections and poeriosis (sp) in my head. Nothing works. I have been on numerous antibiotics and special "head" foam, yet it will not go away. Now I developing small reddish, itchy bumps all over. I want to stop the Humira but an afraid of a flare up. Any suggestions. Oh, I have seen ear specialists and ID specialists for all of these problems. No results.

Hi and welcome!
There is a thread on here devoted to Humira so you might want to check that out. This really caught my eye since I am scheduled to start Humira soon. I am nervous about it since it seems that if there is a reaction, I get it. Good luck and I'll be watching for any responses you get!
P.S: I was surprised that you were diagnosed and put on Humira so soon. My doc tries everything else first and uses Humira/Remicade as one of the last stops before surgery.

Humira is very good for Crohn's but as you think, it may be making life easy for your infections. Do you mean psoriasis on your scalp? - tricky one as the usual creams and things are quite greasy. You need to see a good dermatologist who should be able to help. As for the toe infection, have the docs determined what is is and why?

Blaming the Humira is easy, but coming off it may do more harm than good. Get good data from your docs and make informed decisions.

Hi and welcome! I am so sorry that Humira could be the root of all these infections. How long have you been taking it - since July? Has it helped your CD? This is important to consider if you want to stop taking it. As Beth suggested, I'd be sure that Humira is responsible for all of these infections first. Good luck!
