Need to vent

I am so angry today and need to vent. I started having symptoms of a flare,so I went to see my gastroenterologist. She wants me to start remicade, but can't until a new colonoscopy (it has been several years). My scope was scheduled for December 29th. However, I had to call and cancel because my insurance will not pay for it. Please tell me how a relatively healthy person gets a free screening scope, mandated by law, but a person who has Crohn's has to pay full price out of pocket? Sorry, for the rant,I just had to vent. Has anybody else had this problem? Any suggestions, on how to deal with this?

I am sorry. That is not right. There is a program called remistart which might be able to help. I eernt off Remicade a few years ago because of the expense. After my resection, my doctor put me back on and recommended remistart. They helped me with the expense. Check it out on the web. Best to you. Keep us updated.

Why are they denying the colonoscopy? Have you discussed it with your GI? You can appeal the denial and the GI can send a letter stating why it is medically necessary. If you haven't had one for several years and have CD it seems insane they would deny so I would keep pushing.

As far as remistart, it would help pay for remicade (not financially based so most everybody qualifies), but it won't help pay for a colonoscopy.

I'm so sorry this is occurring. I hope things can get straightened out quickly.
