Ok so I have a situation--daughters GI has left to practice in another state. Hubby & I have decided to switch doctors. I was on the phone ALL day Friday trying to get the records sent there along with an MD to MD call. After getting no where with my current GI office, I called daughters pediatrician who was able to get an appt but it is at the END of JULY. I called the new office & they said when they get the records & the drs call there may be a sooner appt. Late Friday afternoon I was finally advised about a medical records transfer form on the website which I printed out/filled out/faxed to them. She is currently exhibiting symptoms of a flare. My question is should I call current office & see if they would grant us one last infusion or maybe do a speedier records transfer? I don't know how long it normally takes to transfer records but she really needs it soon. I feel terrible that she is suffering & we are in limbo. Help please.

Are her infusions regularly scheduled? I would think she is still a patient of that office until her records are transferred just assigned to another doctor so I would think you could get infusion done and still move ahead with your change.
My husband's GI retired and we were switched to another doctor in the office who he was not happy with they just didn't click and we were unhappy with the whole practice long story and one of the reasons his GI decided to retire but continued to see him until we got switched over to another practice as he was still a patient there.

she has one scheduled for July 5th but we have had to reschedule all of her infusions due to symptoms showing up earlier than the infusion & that has not been a problem before. Before her GI left, he said he would do the infusions every 4 weeks; however when I spoke to the office, they acted like they had no record of that. The reason why we would like to switch is that it has been like an act of congress to get a callback or an answer since our GI left & that is absolutely unacceptable to me. I realize they get busy but when the message says they will call you back, I hold them to that.

There must be a doctor covering for your GI since he has left. I would try and talk to him/her and get one last infusion done, hopefully at 4 weeks. I would guess if you explain your daughter's symptoms and your conversation with the old GI, it would work. It should work!!

My daughters pediatrician rocks!!! They were able to get us an appt with a GI tomorrow!! Praise the Lord!!! I will keep you posted.

The appointment went really well--I am so very thankful that I was advised to keep EVERYTHING regarding any of her visits b/c they were able to see pictures when she had her scopes & also I could tell them when she was on certain meds. I think it really helped them see where we have been. They did labs so they could get a baseline starting out & they are going to schedule her an infusion asap. That will be different also--before we were in a nice private room with a recliner, bed & tv. Now she will be in a large room with all kinds of patients getting infusions--I hope that will help her see that there are others that may be in worse shape. Anywho thanks so much for your advice--I am so grateful I can always count on you all. :)
