Hey! Im really new to this forum, but I've read around some other posts, and it seems like the people on here seem to really care and want to help.

Anywho, I'm only 19 and was recently diagnosed with Crohn's about four months ago, and the doctor put me on Prednisone for about three months, and the doctor decided that Humira was the best route for me, medicine wise. I am exceptionally nervous about it tho, seeing that so much can go wrong while your on this.

For those people who have been on Humira or know about it, should I really be super concerned? What should I really watch for.:shifty:

I fear that I'm gonna get a cold and then it turn into something horrible, or I'm gonna sit in the sun and I'm going to get super bad skin cancer or something. Should I cancel my trip to Florida?

I started Humira in September and I haven’t noticed any negative side effects from it. My husband and my daughter both got the flu in January, and I was certain I was going to get it. I was terrified because the flu this year is nasty, and I was worried I’d end up having serious complications from it. Miraculously, I didn’t get it. I had a cold before Christmas, but it only lasted a few days, and wasn’t as bad as my husband and daughter had it.

I work in a school and spend most of my day with kids that are coughing/sneezing without covering their mouths and wiping snot from their noses, and I don’t think I’ve been any more susceptible to germs than I was before.

I haven’t been on it during the summer yet, but I definitely won’t stop doing things or going places. I’ll just try to be extra vigilant about wearing sunscreen when I’m going to be outside.

Humira has helped me tremendously. I was very resistant to the biologics for a long time, and I wish I had done it sooner.

Good luck!

Practically everyone I know of that takes humira doesn't worry about too much sunshine. I say bring some sunscreen and a hat if it makes you feel more comfortable. If you are concerned about viruses and bacteria, washing your hands often, and always before eating, will greatly reduce any problems you encounter. I hope you don't miss out, good luck!

Thanks guys! These are all very encouraging and helpful.

I just got my first shipment of stuff today, and I start of Friday. :shifty-t:

The pharmacist mentioned feeling achy after you get the shot, is that true, or is that just for some people??
