Neuropathy?

If I do have neuropathy, how is it treated?

It partly depends on its underlying cause. Treatment ranges from antidepressants like amitriptyline, pain medications like oxycodone, to anti-seizure medications, and pain-relieving creams.

But treating the underlying cause is also important to keep progression from occurring.

I got peripheral neuropathy from Flagyl. They don't really know how to treat it yet. I got tested by a neurologist first, and he put me on Lyrica and Cymbalta I think it was. The side effects were too awful, so I discontinued. The problem with drug induced neuropathy is that even after you discontinue the drug, it's still in your system and continues to do damage. I told the doctor as soon as my toes went numb, and he took me off Flagyl. The neuropathy continued until I was numb half way up to my knees, and my hands were affected. That was five years ago, and I still have problems with my fingers, and my feet are numb. It has been getting better, and I don't have to use a cane anymore, but it can take years. See a doctor asap if that's what you think it is.

Sometimes I feel like there is a connection between the Crohns Disease and my leg pain.

I have it in one of my toes. Its a bit of a bigger area now than it was a few years ago. I am
pretty sure its from my VIT D levels being so low.

Have any of you had numbness that is annoying or painful!

Yes Ron I have- working and standing on my feet all day made it worse. Being on disability
has helped.
