Hi,

I was diagnosed with Crohn's disease in 2009 after a long period of being unwell. Thankfully I have been relatively healthy since then by taking Pentasa and Imuran. I didnt have many symptoms but never really felt 100% ok.
In the last month I have stopped taking all my meds. I forgot to take them one weekend and just went from there. Since then I have been feeling better than I have done in a very long time and I have no symptoms at all.
I havent discussed this with my doctor or anything and I havent had a scope since my diagnosis so I'm wondering if this is a good idea or has anyone had any other experiences with this?

Hello and welcome to the forum :)

I would definetly advise that you let your doc know that you have stopped your meds so they can continue to keep an eye on disease activity. The problem can be is that you are feeling fine and getting no symptoms whilst things can be bubbling away under the surface. Out of interest have you made any changes diet wise at all, if so has this helped with symptoms?

i have to agree with angrybird....i was fine for 2 yrs and had a bad weekend which landed me in hosptal for 14 days with a resection.....point being just because you feel you are in remission you can be easily fooled.....talk to the doctor and a ct scan to be on the safe side....i hope you are in remission and the worse is behind you

Hi there and welcome to the community :)

I agree with the others, talk to your doctor. The thing is, the Imuran may have had you in remission but it and/or the Pentasa were causing side effects, thus the feeling better when you stopped them. But once the Imuran is out of your system, the inflammation may start again.

Be VERY careful. :(
