Well I'm somewhat new to the forum and I have added a few people as friends on Facebook. I just wanted to introduce myself and tell my Unique story of Crohn's with my fellow Crohnies.

I grew up with a BESTfriend, or more like Brother, who had Crohn's from birth. I saw first hand how bad the disease could be in that I was around him all the time I even stayed at the Hospital with him when he got his first resection when we were in Middle School.

I said I saw first hand how bad the disease was but I didn't....not until I started having some weird stuff start to happen to me my Freshman year of college 2002. I started having SEVERE constipation and also diarrhea (weird mix I know) but it was also a lot of blood. I also was getting Hemorrhoids. I just chucked it up to College diet and Dorm living. I went to the Doctor and he said use Preparation H and that I had Acid Reflux (Prilosec OTC). It progressively got worse and after changing doctors, being poked and proded for years, and a lot of pain and suffering I was Diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease.

It felt so Ironic that I helped my bestfriend through the years with a disease and ended up having the same disease later in llife. I’ve had 2 surgeries (a Gastrojejunostomy when I had an obstruction from a Duodenal Ulcer and a Bowel Resection), many procedures from several Colonoscopies to Abscess drains from Fistulas, so many hospitalizations I should start getting mail there, and a life that has been turned upside down from this disease. I’m just trying to get my somewhat healthy and get my life back together. I’m here to meet more people going through this same BATTLE and to get some advice and information from people who REALLY know what is going on.

Welcome Justin!

yes it is strange how life works and that you went through so much with your friend and now you have it. What happened to your friend, are you still mates?

I hope you find the support you need here. It's always nice to know you are not alone, even if the people are a long way away

Yeah we are still pretty close. I just am not in as much contact with him because of all the pitfalls of this disease. But we will be BROTHERS for the rest of our lives.

Hi there! :)

I'm brand new on here, but not to Crohn's disease itself (was diagnosed 20 years ago at 15, but had it all my life).

Welcome to the forum and I hope you'll find it a supportive and helpful site. I'm looking forward to it too.
