Hi, I'm happy to have found this group! No better advice than someone who knows exactly what you are going through. I've had Crohns for 22 yrs. I've had 4 bowel resections, fistula repairs and now taking Humira as I've become immune to every medication or have had reactions to many meds.
Hopefully I can find help and advice here and can offer some to you as well :)

Hello and welcome to the forum :bigwave: I am glad you have decided to join. How are things for you now symptom wise? Hopefully the Humira is doing it's job? I can only agree that the best person to understand the foibles of a disease like crohns is a fellow IBD sufferer so do have a good nosy around as there is a lot of helpful info and advice here from a great bunch of people.

Hi there and welcome! I'm glad you found your way here :) Cute pooch you have there! Is it a lab or retriever?

Four resections? Wow. Did they remove parts of your terminal ileum (the last part of the ileum) during that? If so, are you on vitamin B12?

I wish you all the best!

Thank you! She is Lab/Golden retriever, the best of both worlds :)
Yes, the terminal ileum, and while there, my appendix. My first one was at age 25..I'm getting monthly B12 injections ever since...

Hello Sntwhite, and welcome to the forum. It is great to have others to speak to, who experience the same issues. 4 resections.... That's huge? How my h bowel in total have you had recsected if you don't mind me asking? I think iv developed a fistula from my fissure that has caused an abscess. By getting them treated, what do you mean? Just drainage and antibiotics? Sorry to ask you questions straight away, but I also am just about to begin humira, as other meds don't work for my crohns. Thing is 6mp and pred, as well as fissures and severe crohns, can all cause fistulas anorectalabscesses. Were you on these suppressants when you got fistulas?
Anyway, hope you find lots of support and info here, it's a wonderful forum, with many fantastic people to offer advice. Best wishes :)

Hi Irene, It is very good to have others who understand and talk to!!! Thank you so much for your warm welcome. No need to apologize for the questions, I love to try and help :)
In total I believe I have lost about 5 feet of small bowel. My first resection was due to a fistula, I was very sick! I've become immune to prednisone, I've been on all 5 ASA drugs, Methotrexate, Imuran, 6-mp etc. They all worked for a bit but then stopped. Humira is so far working, but some of the side effects are not the greatest, I get migraines the day after injection, which I've never experienced in my life, I have a lot of joint pain now, and my psoriasis has worsened :( I've also become very, very fatigued over the last 5 months and the only thing I can think of is the Humira causing it or premenopause??? lol
All in all, I feel the Humira has given me a better quality of life, I've been taking it for 2 1/2 yrs now. The only side effect I absolutely dislike is the fatigue....I have two children ages 16 and 10, they love to be active and sometimes it's very hard to keep up...my poor hubby has to do a little more than normal now..
Feel free to ask me anything you want, no shame here! :lol2:
