new here !!
so, last year about halfway into the 19th year of my life, i experienced some stomach pain and some other TMI issues, and it was mild and i didn't have insurance so i avoided going to the doctor. After consulting with my mom she said it wasn't that serious and a month after i had to leave work because my stomach hurt so bad i couldn't stand it. in the ER they did all those test and scans so they came up with ulcertive colitis. They didn't change my diet nor did they give me any guidence on what to do or what this type of thing would do to my body. three months later im in the hospital again because nothing improved and had actually gotten worse. My joints had so much pain that i couldnt walk and i even went to liquid diet and no dairy and i coudln't keep anything down. Finally they put me on two different kinds of stong medicines among the steroids and inflamatory medicines. CImzia which is a shot i take monthly and another pill i take four of Lialda. It has kept my body to where i only need to worry about over exerting myself and a year later i find that staying away from dairy and when im having tummy pains to stay away from raw veggies and definitly no more that one carbonated drink a week. but sometimes its hard to eat healthy when youre having a flare.
Now my only struggle is paying medical bills and for my medicines. its very frustrating. I have just gotten a new job at a hospital to get my foot in the door so that when i finish Nursing school i will be able to stay where i work. It sucks having to talk to your educators and your boss but they really can help. They have switched around my schedule and are trying to help me study for a different position. I realize not everyone is as lucky as i am to find a good medium. Although i know what NOT to do its still good to get some adivce how to balance things sometimes like eating when you dont have time.
so if anyone has any advice on how to get help for medications that would be AMAZING! ignore my grammar and incorrect english please!
