Hello guys am so happy that theres forum for crohns. My experience well it first started when I was 17 and I used to get little pains from time to time. I thought nothing of it as most people do, so months went by my appetite was still very good however the stomach pains became more painful. I took this as a indication to see the doctor and he was like its fine probably just a stomach bug. What did I do I took his advice and was thinking this will blow over at the time I played for a football academy professionally. This was when I started to notice from bags of energy to nothing I was really sluggish and so did the coach. I told him I'm just going through a glitch everything will be ok but it wasn't. Doctors vist after docter vist nothing they said it was allergies. My parents were getting annoyed as I wasn't turning up for school or football nothing. Then things got serious weight was going down fast became fragile parents were getting worried. I thought things couldn't get any worse but they did I went down to 6st got dropped from football terminated my contract nothing was looking good.

Docters then noticed something was wrong but done nothing until one night I was watching tv late with my dad and the pain went from 8 to 10 I was staggering everything was getting dark started sweat I knew I was about to pass out but then dad got me lucazade the gluecose helped I then ran to the toilet and emptied my guts. Dad was so pissed not at me but at doctors enough was enough I then had to go private. Went to hospital was scared total stay was 2weeks felt like a lifetime. They said they had to put a tube up my nose and feed me elementals because I was seriously malnurished but I was lyk *** that and started drinking them they were horrible I had various X-rays bloodtest the works felt like a laprat. They were darkest days of my life took them a while to find that was crohns and that was the least serious option. There was no summer holidays for me lol amazingly I passed my exams cut long story short I first was on pentaza worked for abit relapsed went on predisalone steroids omg face ballooned up hair was falling out relapsed twice at 21 am now on azothepraine which I take but sometimes just can't bothered taking them diet is perfect and am now uni in Scotland and work as a personal trainer thank you for your time

Hello Momo
Welcome to the forum.
You have had such a difficult time in your young life but it is good you were finally diagnosed and are receiving treatment.
Be very careful to diligently take your medication for the crohns since it can progress silently and end up in another crisis situation for you.
Azathioprine gradually builds up in the system to reach optimal effect and once we start to feel better it is easy to think we don't need it, but we do and it is essential to continue to take it.
Hopefully you are getting regular blood work done and regular checks with your GI.
Hugs and best wishes
Trysha

Hi there and welcome :)

I'm going to echo what Trysha said. Be VERY careful about not taking your medications. It's a REALLY bad idea. Azathioprine can be a wonderful medication but as Trysha said, it needs to build up and stay in a specific therapeutic range.

I realize you've had your share of trouble with doctors, but if you've found a good GI, please listen to them.

I wish you all the best.
