Hello! I'm female aged 33 and live in the uk

For 3 years now I've been living with chronic diaorrehea that I can't find a "trigger" for. I've had a sigmoidoscopy which revealed a polyp then a full colonoscopy that revealed a second polyp. These were both removed and since there was nothing else present they said I had ibs.

Things have just plodded along until a month ago I began suffering pain in my butt. I put it down to piles and slapped on the cream to help the subside. Nothing helped so I made a trip to the doctors

She found a abscess and prescribed me with antibiotics and pain killers. These seemed to work well and on a follow up appontment she told me the abscess has shrank so gave me some different antibiotics. I explained to her at that time that when I passed wind it felt like it was coming thru two areas in my bum and that I was leaking still pus and poo. She didn't seem too concerned about this and sent me on my way.

Fast forward 3 days later and I spend the night in tears in agony and the following morning I had to go to work. I lasted 4 hours and left to talks myself to a and e.

I was seen in a and e by both a doctor and a surgeon who told me I had a fitsula and that my abscess would need draining. Whilst I was under they would explore and maybe work on the fitsula. I filled in some paperwork and was sent home to come back the following day to have this procedure.

Now the uk health service is under great strain so I wasn't asked to arrive at the hospital and didn't get seen by a surgeon on the ward til 9pm at night! He decided that my abscess has shrunk and before he would look at my fitsula I needed to have a Mri scan. He has given me two different antibiotics to take one for 7 days and one for 14 and I just have to wait around for a appointment now.

I'm still in considerable pain and the co-codamol does not help much. Do any of you have any ideas to help with pain relief please? As I have diaorrehea with like everything I eat I don't think it's helping as I think it's easier for poo to leak thru the hole. Is there anything I can put on the site that may help or just help to keep the area clean? I'm using wet cotton wool to clean after every toilet trip and plenty of baths to try to help me relax

I'm off work on holiday at the minute for the next 5 days and would like to help myself manage my pain better before I return. Any tips greatly received xx

Welcome. I am sorry for all you are going through. I don't have any suggestions for the pain. Are you on a probiotic? If so, double the amount while you are on antibiotics. Please let us know how you are doing when you get the chance. I hope you get some relief soon.
