New member seeking advice

Firstly I just want to say its so amazing to find a group where I can vent and listen to other people's problems with crohns. Helps me feel like I'm not so alone!

I've been diagnosed for just over a year with crohns... Two years of hell trying to figure out what was wrong with me!
When I first was diagnosed I was put on 50mgs prednisone, pentasa and azathioprine. Was feeling fantastic for a few months until my body decided it didn't like the pentasa and azathioprine and made me vomit within 10mins of taking it and out me out of action for a couple of days.
My Gi then put me on purinethol 50mg.. Same reaction.

I'm now on 25mg prednisone and just nexium for my horrid reflux and heartburn :S

Been suffering for days with constipation, sore joints and feeling really fatigued. Can't get an appointment with my Gi until November and can't get her on the phone to discuss either. I'm sure I've got a blockage but my normal GP knows nothing about crohns and is zero help.

Last time I went to the toilet was friday and there was some blood... Should I go to ER? My GP says they won't do much but I am so concerned and in so much discomfort!

Any advice appreciated! :ybiggrin:

I would think if you have to wait that long for your appointment and you are suffering with severe pain or feel you may have an obstruction then you should go to the ER.

My son has yet to deal with some of these issues/meds but maybe some members with more experience will be along shortly with more informed advice.

In your situation, I would probably go the ER - especially if you're concerned about an obstruction. What can it hurt to go find out?

Did the GI take you off of everything except the Prednisone and Nexium? Or did you take yourself off of the other medications?

What specifically are your symptoms that make you think you have an obstruction and what is the pain on a scale of 1-10 with 10 being horrific?
