hi
i have been viewing the forum for a few month so i think it is time to say hello properly
i live in the UK and have been diagnosed with crohn's for about 10years.
i have been on every drug that you can think of and always reacted badly to them so had to stop taking them i had a resection in 96 and was ok for about a year then it all flared again .struggled on kept being admitted for iv steroids discharged on pred but as soon as i taperd down i would flare again ,feel like i was always ill.anyway to recent events i seen my crohn's doc on the 11th march 2010 and he just asked me if i was ready for surgry again,i agreed to see a surgeon so was waiting for a appointment to come that was all on the thursday.on the following Sunday i had to be admitted as i was in so much pain turns out the docs thort i had a blockage so they did a resection on the Tuesday. for 2 days after the op i was fine up and about thinking thank god that it was over and i was going to be pain free for a while how so wrong was i. day 3 i was in agony my belly was so swollen and hard. i had a build up of fluid behind the staples they left me for 3 days like this just living on morfin. on day 5 they decided to remove 8 of the staples and the relive was instant it made me so angry that i had been in such pain and all it took was the decision to remove the staples. anyway i was in the hospital for 12 days and had to have the district nurse come to my home to dress the wound every day for 3 week i am now pain free with the help of movicol. i hope it lasts i have had enough for a while

hi Sue, welcome :) i'm glad you finally got around to joining us.

sorry to hear of everything you've been through - and that really sucks about the awful pain you've had when just removing a few staples would've relieved it :( i hope that from now on it's plain sailing for you, and you can get your quality of life back!
