Hi all

I'm a little concerned, over the last week I've started to experience some strange new symptoms. Last week I was driving and for a few minutes I had incredibly sharp rectal pains. The only way I can describe it is as like being stabbed with a blunt object, except with a huge amount of force. It actually made me cry out in the car as it was so sudden and painful.

That hasn't happened again but I now have a radiating pain in my groin area. I generally feel unwell and I'm getting some joint pain in my hands, feet & elbows, and I'm having trouble sleeping etc. I know this is all associated with Crohn's but I haven't experienced it up until now. What's going on? :(

I would see a rheumatologist about the joint pain. I would maybe ask your gp or GI about the other symptoms. Hope you feel better soon.

Thanks, if it doesn't let up I'll make an appointment with the GP and mention it next time I'm at the hospital. I just hope it doesn't get any worse :(

The stabbing pain in the rectum is called Proctalgia.I have experienced it on occasion and have actually cried out loud in the supermarket.I mentioned it to my G.I. who told me what it was called but didn't seem concerned. But of course it may not be that at all,so I would definitely mention it to your G.P.I think every symptom should go on your medical record.Your other pains can all be associated with crohns also. All sorts of things tend to creep up on us.I hope you feel better soon.

That's interesting! I would have done the same if it had happened to me in public lol, it was so out of the blue and painful! I will definitely mention it, it's just totally bizarre as I have no disease activity in my colon or rectum.

You're right, it's totally crept up on me. I feel like one thing improves and then are replaced with other issues. You can never get one step ahead :(

I think us crohnies are more aware of our bodies than mere mortals. We hit on every symptom and are always waiting to see what transpires.Which of course,is not a bad thing. But I know some people, who have no experience of this damn disease, would think we're hypochondriacs.hahaha

I certainly am these days, I ignored a lot of stuff I shouldn't have ignored in the past and look where it got me ha ha!

That's what I meant. We should never ignore symptoms.I don't mean we should rush off to the docs.every 5mins.,but it doesn't hurt to write it down and tell somebody.Even if you are making their ears bleed.hahaha
