Hey Folks,

I got a flyer in the post yesterday from my local NACC group. As part of the newsletter the flyer is asking for IBD patients - both Crohns and UC to participate in a new study.

It involves staying 1-2 nights in a volunteer suite and providing 1-2 blood samples and stool samples. The reason??

The are "evaluating the potential use of material isolated from stool samples as a means of studying the colon without the need for invasive procedures like colonoscopy/sigmoidoscopy".

An explanatory piece with it says "they are leading a study to see if they can retrieve cells lining the colon from faecal samples".

Thought it was interesting that they are looking for other options testing wise too on the research front.

Hmmm, can I send them some parcel post, postage due? Oh, wait a mo.. it won't get thru customs... Bio-hazard and all that crap... On 2nd thought, IT just might...

OK, enuff silly jokes. Nice to see research like this underway. It won't cure the disease; but if it means not having to prep for a scope anymore; can't think of a single crohnie who wouldn't drop drawers (no pun intended) at a moments notice to help out. Wish we could categorize members by country to help spread the word to all UK members. Hey, Mike, is that doable at all?

hi jan - hope you're feeling better x

that study sounds interesting... would you be able to pm me some more details? thanks.

All done as requested Sue.

Hope you are doing ok too.

As you say Kev, who wouldnt want to do without the prep! Hope they get some results with it ;-)
