Ok, so we had our first GI appt this past Thurs. Told dr all my sons symptoms. Since then, he has now thrown up 3 times, complained of aching feet and a tingling body. GI is not aware since these all happened after our appt. I imagine outcome of appt would not have changed ( endoscopy and colonoscopy scheduled for next week). I keep reading about some of the kids here having arthritis....is that a condition which usually affects crohns patients? I'm just so worried, poor kids can't gain weight, has grown 3 centimeters in 2+ years and now in addition to D, puking too? What's next? Tell me it will get better. He's been going to school so far, hoping it doesn't interfere with school too. Ugh....just wish he would get better. Feeling very sad right now. Sorry, guess I just needed to vent a bit!

Hugs
Its hard in the beginning
Especially right before abd after dx.
Some of the kids here have arthritis but generally arthrits is just an extra intestinal manifestation of crohn's meaning if your crohn's flares then you get flaring joints.
Control the crohn and the EIM go away.
Only a few kids get the kind that is independant of Gi activity .

No matter what it will be ok
My kiddo has been dx with Ibd for 3 years.
He has good grades in school and swims competitvely
So it can be done .

There are several different kinds of arthritis that are associated with Crohn's.
CCFA has a great explanation: http://www.ccfa.org/assets/pdfs/arthritiscomplications.pdf

My daughter has juvenile Ankylosing Spondylitis, which is independent of IBD activity. JAS is not at all common, but juvenile spondyloarthritis is more common. Seeing a rheumatologist might be a good idea if your son continues to complain.

Once your son is diagnosed and treated things will start to get better. Hang in there!

It's VERY tough at first. But it does get better. It takes time.

Sending hugs, it is scary and you want to take away their pain and symptoms. My son get aching joints during a flare but when not flaring he seems fine. It will all come together and you will have a new normal. Good luck and stay positive.

I'm so sorry its so hard right now.
We've all been there and many of us have our times when its hard again.
My dd has suffered a lot but now she's on Remicade I get to see her be a kid again.:thumleft:
We still have ups and downs but now the bad days are getting fewer and she's getting back to.......being an absolute 5 yr old handful.:ylol:
