Hello,
My name is Anna. I joined because my son was diagnosed last November. He had just started college. He spent his last semester in excruciating pain and still managed to finish the year with honors. He came home for the summer and that' when our crusade began
He started to develop severe headaches on top of the Crohn's pain he had. It was early June.
Nobody could figure out what caused the pain until doctors started to assume he got addicted to the pain drugs he was taking. He had his surgery ( ileostomy to relieve the pain ) in July. Than the headaches just got worse and every trip to the emergency room turn out to be a nightmare as doctors assumed again he was there for the drugs and there was nothing they could do.
I am crying as I write this, my poor baby was in hell and nobody wanted to help and assumed he was just a drug addict! ( my honor roll student who made the Dean's list, who never got himself in trouble, never even touched alcohol, and his point average is 3.75 )
What does a mother to do when doctors and all the specialist tell you there is nothing they can do! My heart was shattered each time! All this went on for about 2 month.
Finally, in August I think it was, he got admitted again at the hospital. We finally had found the doctor who took his pain for real and admitted him to the hospital. I for ever be grateful to this doctor, he saved my son! he performed a surgery to clear his sinus cavity did a biopsy on the tissue and found my son to have one more disease: Wagner disease that causes inflammation of the blood vessels! But my son' s headaches didn't' t stop just yet. Doctors where trying to find a balanced cure since now his liver was in danger of failing.
There is so much more I could tell you as the nightmare seemed to go on forever. My son is not out of the woods yet and as my heart aches I have to pretend each day that it is no big deal and everything will be all right, and no matter what he'll start college again in January! No time for sorrow!
