Hi all, I'm Emma
I was 'diagnosed' by a Doctor with IBS many many years ago.
About 6 months ago I started getting a different type of pain in my abdomen/stomach along with other symptoms which seemed worse than my usual IBS symptoms. I went to my Doctor in October 2013 and explained my symptoms, I suggested Crohn's Disease and he totally dismissed the idea.
I have a vitamin B12 deficiency, for which I have injections every three months and the Doctor still wouldn't consider the idea of Crohn's disease. I decided to see another Doctor and after seeing her each week for four weeks telling her my symptoms and asking to be referred, she finally referred me for a pelvic ultrasound (which came back clear) and a colonoscopy.
I had the colonoscopy yesterday. I did experience quite a lot of pain at times, but it was worth it. I can't remember much about it due to the sedation/painkillers but after the procedure they explained that they had found small ulcers and inflammation at the end of my small intestine.
They have taken biopsies and I have to wait for the results. On the report they gave me, they have said it could be Crohn's disease.
I am still feeling bloated after the colonoscopy yesterday and my stomach feels tender.
So, I'm left wondering if it could be Crohn's, until I receive the results.....
Thanks for reading
