So I have. E'en having stomach problems for about 4 or 5 years now. I have no insurance so it has been a struggle to be noticed. Two weeks ago I had my appendix out and the surgeon called a GI suspecting crohns. Blood work confirmed. Yesterday morning I woke to ridulous pain worse than ever before. I ended up taking an ambulance ride to the hospital. After a full day I was prescribed likke five medications. I'm flaring pretty bad still. I'm eating applesauce and an ensure right now. Hope it goes well. Anyway glad I found this site and hello.

Antibiotics always helped me when i had issues, did they prescribe you any? Other than that laying in bed in the fetal position is how i used to cope with the pain. Hope you get better.

Digestive enzymes (over the counter) may help, as well as probiotics. Watch your diet and that should help keep flareups to a minimum.

Hi JesseLynn and :welcome: to the forum.

So sorry about your diagnosis, and I hope you're healing well from your appendectomy. Get lots of rest if you can.

I am so sorry you are in so much pain. Since you're new to Crohn's, you may not have been told yet to avoid NSAIDS for pain. The only safe painkillers are those with Acetaminophen. Stay away from Aspirin, Naproxen, and Ibuprofen.

I was given Asacol HD and prednisone to come down from a flare, but now I am only on Remicade. Would you mind sharing what meds you are taking?

We have a liquid diet forum here that you may want to read up on. Ensure is a good place to start. I hope it goes well for you. :)

Hello and welcome to the forum :bigwave: I hope things are healing well from your surgery although it sucks that you have then also had a crohns diagnosis landed on you :( Fingers crossed the meds the docs have given you will soon start to kick in and the pain will ease and perhaps try a heat pad to see if this helps. Really pleased you have decided to join us and please keep us updated on how you are getting on.

Thank you so much everyone. They did put me on antibiotics. It has just been really hard because I started my fourteen week internship last week for Elementary Education in a third grade classroom. Also, I work full time in a bar. That all takes enough out of me anyway, but lately I have been getting really angry about all of this because I never expected my internship to go this way. I wish I could give more if myself to my internship than to this stupid disease. Anyway, I will definitely check out the liquid diet forum and I am currently on Ciprofoxacin (1 tablet every 12 hours) Metronidazone (1 tablet three times a day Prednisone for 15 days and I am on day three with four pills for today, and Apriso (4 in the morning). I suppose I need to start packing a lunch and dinner since I am never home.....gonna check out the food forums to figure out how to start deciding what to buy and pack. Again, thanks for the support and I am glad I found this site.
