Hi All,

I've recently just turned 40 and have been diagnosed with Crohn's disease for 15 years and probably have had it much longer. I've had one resection (in 2000). I was able to put myself in to remission in the early 2000's using the SCD diet which was a miracle for me at the time. Life moved on and gradually I fell off the diet. I've tried to go back on several times since but have such bad reactions during the first week that it has been too hard to stay on. In the past year my Crohn's has come back full force. I had some success with methotrexate for about three months but ended up having chronic respiratory infections so I had to go off of it. I tried Humira and ended up in the hospital for a week with respiratory distress after my second treatment. After that cleared out of my system I tried Cimzia. After the second shot I suffered from joint and muscular pain that was so severe I couldn't move for almost a week (it would move from joint to joint which was a pain).

Since I've exhausted most conventional treatments (previous history of intolerance to 6MP and Entocort and I hate Prednisone!) the doctor is recommending Tsyrabi (sp) or a clinical study. I'm scared of both and from research I've done I am going to ask to try LDN first. My doctor has experience with LDN treatment but from his abstract, he did not see the success as in some of the other studies.

I look forward to getting to know you more and learning from your experience.

Thanks!

HI there welcome! Many here, including myself react to many of the meds, the biologics are not for you. I spoke to my gi of anything more and I mentioned trysabri and we both looked at each other and say no... I dont want to be on more risky drugs like that.

There are some who have trid LDN, a few will come on to share. Prednisone is the love/hate drug and my docs really dont like giving it to me. Only low does flagyl keeps it in check for me.

Let us know how the LDN works for you, best of luck with it!

Hi and welcome! I am sorry to hear you have gone through most traditional treatments. If I were you, I'd certainly give LDN a shot. I am very interested in this drug, and I hope there will be more studies on it.

Check out the LDN subforum in the Treatment section. You'll find threads of success, and some of disappointment. LDN is like most drugs for Crohn's, it works for some and not for others. I certainly hope it will do wonders for you.

Please keep us posted - I'd be very interested in your progress with LDN.

Thanks

I just wanted to say thanks to all of you for the warm greetings. Today my doctor called in my LDN so I should be able to start by Wednesday. I'm looking forward to it!

I'll keep you posted on how it goes!
