Hi, my name is Brad. Im 24 and have crohns for 14 years. When i was diagnosed at ten i had extremely low white blood cell counts and an abcess along with with bleeding and fever and a few other things i cant quite remember. I was put on mercatopurine and prednisone at the time. Shortly after i was put on a six week remicade infusion and i went into remision for 6 or 7 years. I started having gradually worsening flare ups again starting at 19 and had another abcess and more blood and horrible pain that didnt go waway. Currently im on prednisone, 40 mg a day and the side effects are awefull. My heart feels like its going to explode and and im always out of breath. I also started remicade again a week and half ago and i have another infusion in a few days. It has helped along with the prednisone thank god, but i cannot wait to to get off the pred.
Its been hard to deal with my disease as of the past few years only because i was in remision for so long and as a growing kid i kind of forgot that i had it, and i guess it was good at the time but now ive had to re realize the fact that i do have a disease and ive had to learn all about it everything i can do to help cope with it.

Well, Brad, you certainly came to the right place! Welcome to the family! I'm so glad you found your way here. There is so much love and support among this forum. I'm a bit addicted to it, myself. :)

Hi Brad and welcome! I am sorry to hear your long remission came to an end, and you are struggling with the side effects of pred. How many mgs are you currently taking? I hope you can wean off quickly, and Remicade keeps you well for a very long time.

I hope you feel better soon! Good luck!

Welcome Brad! I am sorry that Crohn's has sprung back into your life, but hopefully the Remicade will work its magic once again!

Looking forward to seeing you around the forum!
