Hi, my name is Brad. Im 24 and have crohns for 14 years. When i was diagnosed at ten i had extremely low white blood cell counts and an abcess along with with bleeding and fever and a few other things i cant quite remember. I was put on mercatopurine and prednisone at the time. Shortly after i was put on a six week remicade infusion and i went into remision for 6 or 7 years. I started having gradually worsening flare ups again starting at 19 and had another abcess and more blood and horrible pain that didnt go waway. Currently im on prednisone, 40 mg a day and the side effects are awefull. My heart feels like its going to explode and and im always out of breath. I also started remicade again a week and half ago and i have another infusion in a few days. It has helped along with the prednisone thank god, but i cannot wait to to get off the pred.
Its been hard to deal with my disease as of the past few years only because i was in remision for so long and as a growing kid i kind of forgot that i had it, and i guess it was good at the time but now ive had to re realize the fact that i do have a disease and ive had to learn all about it everything i can do to help cope with it.
