:welcome: Hi there. It's really good to meet you and thanks so much for posting your story. It's great to hear that you are doing well - long may it last. I often wonder too if remission doesn't mean being totally symptom free or if it means being well enough to deal with the day to day things that are life. After being really ill for 18 months, I will settle for that.
I know what you mean about the healthy eating too. I started a new job a year ago and struggle sometimes to find the time to eat as healthily as I should cos it does make a difference. I guess falling off the wagon and having junk food every now and again isn't going to hurt too much :)

Hello and welcome to the forum :)

I am glad you are doing well for the most part. Do the cramps and D only occur after fast food and coffee? This could be the tums way of reminding you not to have these, folk without an IBD can get an unsettled tum when having things like these. When did you last see your doc and what are they basing your remission on?

Greetings and welcome!

I'm so glad you're doing much better now, that's wonderful!

Out of curiosity, when was the last time you had a colonoscopy?

Most of us struggle on occasion with straying from our diets. I've gotten a lot better but still fall off the wagon on occasion. I really wish I didn't but... well... yeah. Those who don't stray certainly have my respect.

Again, welcome!

You're sharp :) You figured out pretty quick where I was going with that questioning.

That you still have ileal inflammation is concerning to me. I say that because, over time, it can turn into scarring and narrowing of the intestines which can lead to problems.

Have they ever tested your thiopurine metabolite levels to make sure you're in the therapeutic range with azathioprine? Of if you are in the therapeutic range, maybe it's as simple as a dose adjustment. Or maybe it's worth trying something else to get that last bit of inflammation under control.

Your last colonoscopy showed inflammation and he won't schedule another one for a couple years out? Ouch...

I don't know the canadian rules on requesting another, sorry :(

Have you thought about taking some green tea to help with the caffeine addiction? Not only does it have caffeine, but it's thought to potentially help reduce inflammation associated with IBD.
