Came across this forum probably like many of you came across it. Searching for answers or remedies.
My name is Justin, I'm 31 years old. I was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis 4 weeks ago. Before that I lived with upwards of 20 bm a day, all soft/watery/bloody. I didn'thave insurance at the time. Had to wait one more month till my insurance kicked in through work. Soon as it did I made an appointment. Dr visit, after Dr visit , blood test after test. Still no answer. Then they sent me to a GI. He scheduled me for a colonoscopy. A week before my flare ups got really bad , to the point I was scared to eat. I only was able to get down a little yogurt. Which was not enough for a 6' 3" 240lb guy. I lost 20 lbs in 2 weeks. I got so weak and tired day by day. Finally was diagnosed with ulcertive colitis. My first meds were prednisone 40mg and an anti imflamatory.
1st week I felt good. The bm slowed down, but still never hard. Same for the second week. 3 week they tapered me to 30mg. Then more and more bm came on. Went for a follow up. Told the Dr what has been happening. Changed my meds to 30mg prednisone, 50mg 6mp , and liadla. Still nothing really has changed. I'm not the type of person that believes one has to stay on medication to live a normal life. I have been reading hours and hours and hours of information . and I still feel lost. Just honestly trying to wrap my head around going from perfectly fine one day , to being where I am today. Hopefully this forum can help me and maybe I can help others.

Hi and welcome to the forum! :welcome: Sorry to hear all you've been through. :( But, there are many here in your same situation. I encourage you to take a look around on here. We have a section for Ulcerative Colitis. There are quite a few in there with variations of UC. Some other great places are: treatment, support & diet, fitness & supplements. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks I appreciate it . I have def found some helpful information already. Hope to be a great member of a great board.
