Hey all,
I'm Jo, I'm 28 and have had Crohns for nearly 20years. I was one of the first few children in New Zealand that was diagnosed with it. Not that they knew what it was and it took years before they actually figured it out...awareness is alot better now. I'm amazed to read all you storeys and am amazed how many of you there are out there! I have a few family members with Crohns aswell. I have been on remition for about 10 years now, I recall when I was young, how painfull it is, blood transfusions...I had a few. Was so scared that they would have to operate, luckely they caught it in time and were able to medicate me. I also recall the doc's saying the crohns usually comes in your late 20's early 30's and it was uncommon for someone so young to have it. I'm 28 now and am starting to worry that it may come back!!! But what will happen will happen.
I was on Pentasa and various multi vitamins and folic acid also steriods for alot of years. when I reached 20 I decided to stop taking Pentasa and have not had any problems really, I've kynda got a handle on it, I know when Its flaring up so I know when to calm my self/life/food...etc down.
All I can say to all of you is to not let this get to you, you will feel better, and things if they are bad right now will be good soon, keep good spirits...dont stress - Thats a major I reckon!!!
