Hi all!! Im Steph...turning 20 in 3 days, college student studying nursing, and anxious to meet everyone! I am here hoping for some advice! from some of the stories i have read, you all are amazing people who have been handed a tough deck of cards! I admire you all for living life to the fullest and staying positive for all that you have been through!
First off let me tell you a little bit about me and my small issues in comparison...I am in school and i absolutly love it...nursing is something I have had a passion for and i am luckey enough to have supportive parents to help me reach my goal of becoming an RN! One funny thing about me is that I am really short...not quite 5ft and people always mistake me for a 12 yr old which has its pros/cons I have never really have health issues beside hypoglycemia...I am a retired gymnasts and love life!
I am coming to this site in hopes that maybe you can ease my fears a bit...I have always been a bit of a worry wort, I suppose but I feel I usually know when something is really bothering me and I have been brought to the attention to Crohn's by my GI. I have always had problems with bowel movements..my mom would awlays get upset with me when i was young because i would hold it until it was coming out of me! I was to busy to take the time to sit down and go potty! Any-who, that took its toll and I recieved my first lovely hemorrhoid when i was 11...super fun times...I thought i was dying because i has something coming out of me! But found out it was only a nasty little hemorrhoid. After many years of dealing with these, I have developed a fissure that just will not go away.
With this fissure i had to go see a gi doc...first time I saw him thats all it was, so i was given an ointment to put on it and it was supposed to go away. Well time has passed and since then i have noticed other little things...I have these random spells that I eat and then my stomach just feels like its turning circle and rolling with cramps and i am curled up in a little ball in pain...I get cold sweat and i cant talk or move when its doing this...it always results in diarrhea and then I just cannot get my system regular again...I get the diarrhea and then the constipations for a couple weeks...i can never tell which one is worse...but these have happened about 2 or 3 times this summer. I have also had quite a bit of blood in my stool...thats kind of what concerned me the most...but since the summer i have lost 10lbs...I know this doesn't sound like a lot but Im pretty small to begin with and know under 100 lbs everyone comments of it like im intentionally losing the weight...one of my docs is so rude about it, and pretty much is accusing me of an ed...which is so not the case...
I have just a terrible go around with my fissure and it spasmed for days and i was cyring in pain not knowing what to do...I finally went back to a new gi and I was telling him mainly about the main associated with my fissure..so the bloody stool and the pain...but then he asked if anyone in my family has had crohn's...My mother was adopted, so we are not sure...but he said that probly something to test if things continue to get worse, and if I would like I could have a colonoscopy...I didnt mention any of my other symptoms at the time but small things are kind of piecing themselves together:
I have had bloody stools, bouts of diarrhea/constipations, weight lose, abdominal pain/cramping, fissures that will not heal, I dont really have much of an appetite..not sure why, and a lot of foods just make me feel queasy, and I have no clue if this fits in, but my lower back has been hurting like no other, and one morning I woke up and my knees and elbows felt like they stuck for yrs and were achy...
I apologize for this being so long...but I don't want to bother my gi and risking him thinking i am a hypochondria...does anyone have any recommendations or advice?? anything is welcome! i hope you all are doing well and I hope to hear from you!
