Hey everyone
My story starts when I was about 11/12 years old and I began having severe unexplained abdominal pain I was first sent to a gynecologist as doctors automatically assumed it was period related so 5 years on and two operations later the gynocologist came to the conclusion that it had nothing to do with female problems and said it was in my head which after 4 years of people telling you that you pretty much start to believe them. I was finally sent to a local gastroenterologist and within 6 months he had diagnosed me with ulcers in my small intestine after a pill camera. It would have been faster then 6 months but thanks to being lucky enough to live in the city that likes to shake things were a bit slow moving.
I am very grateful to finally have an answer so that when I go to the doctors I can say I have crohns instead of the whole I have a sore tummy routine.Cookie
But the one thing I am still struggling with is people not understanding the severity of the disease as on the outside I look like any other teenager and so they automatically assume im not as sick as i make out to be (maybe they should have a look at my cupboard jam packed full of different medications and painkillers, then see what they have to say).
So im very grateful for this forum as I feel I'm not alone and can relate too many people's posts and have also learnt a lot about crohns they I've never knew before.
