Newly diagnosed/no treatment yet/no life

I was just wondering what is normally the first line in treatment for those newly diagnosed. I don't see my gi doctor for another 3 weeks so I have been struggling alone with cramps and fever. I also waver between diarrhea to what appears to be some sort of blockage at times. I don't want to worry and fret about it but just to have some idea of what's to come would be nice. But at this point anything to take away the constant fever and fatigue. I literally work and sleep right now. I had a 5 1/2 hour nap on Saturday.

Can you call your doctor and ask them to pencil you in sooner if they have any cancellations? He will then probably prescribe you something.

The very first thing they will likely do is prescribe you a short course of steroids (prednsiolone/budesonide etc) to get your symptoms under control.

My doctor is on holidays. So I will definitely have to keep waiting. I will google the steroids. I feel like they are going to say weight gain though. And I really don't need that. But to get things under control for now would be a good start. Thanks

It depends how long you are on them. I was on them for 4 months and didn't gain any weight whilst eating the same amount of food but put 3kg on when I started drinking nourishment drinks. They will make you feel hungry all the time though so you just need to make sure you don't increase your calorie intake if you don't want to gain weight.
