newwbie, my story

Not to sure about this site, but hey i'll give it a shot.
I've been diagnosed with Colitis since i was 10 years old and at 13 it progressed to Crohns (I'm 19). I just stumbled across this site on google because i'm so fed up with feeling so uggghh all the time, so why not search for answers on the internet?
I read a few of the stories on here and i'm so happy that i'm not the only one that has the same questions and feelings. Right now my crohns is in "hiding" which is soo good; but the fear of repeating my junior & senior years of high school all over again freaks me out (had to be homeschooled).
My parents are always trying to help me out and say they know i don't feel good. But the truth is, they don't and they never will. The physical pain from this disease and all the procedures, medicines & doctors got to me so much that i developed bad anxiety and nervousness. I just want to be normal like all of my other friends.

Hi dlowe, i have crohn's for 21 years now and i know exactly what you are going through it's tough and it's difficult for other people to understand because they can't see it not like a broken leg or something. so, the pain is very real i know from experience and i have a flare up now and i am on predisone for 8 weeks. so, yes the pain it real and no-one knows the feelings only the person who is going through it. but, hang in there it will take sometime before the healing process in over but, hopefully the meds will work for you.

Hi Dlowe! I was around 17 when my digestive issues started. When I was your age (19), one of my doctors thought I might have Crohn's Disease. I moved away and CD wasn't brought up until years later. It took me a while to get diagnosed for CD. I can relate to the pains from the disease, the embarrassment and discomfort from the procedures, and the anxiety. It seems that many Crohnies, along with others that have chronic illnesses, suffer from depression or anxiety. I am glad that you have found this forum. It is a great place to learn about CD, get support, and to make friends with others who share your pain. :)

Hi and welcome! I am glad you found the forum. You are right, it does help speaking to others who know exactly what you are going through and your daily struggles. But you are lucky to have supportive parents who obviously care, so try to keep that in mind.

I am glad your Crohn's is "hiding" and you seem to be in remission. What treatment do you currently take? I hope you continue to feel good for a long, long while!
