Hi all. I stumbled upon this forum and after reading a few heartbreaking posts I had to register and tell my story.

I am 35 years old and have for the most part since my teens had an upset stomach, but nothing that would call for medical assistance. 5 years ago it started getting worse, probably caused by stress, and my bowels where constantly acting up, I was feeling pain and had almost daily diarrheas. I don't like visiting the doctor so my problems kept growing for almost 4 years until I had enough with always having to be in close distance to a toilet and waking up at night in extreme pain that lasted for hours.

Last year (2007) I got my diagnosis, Chrons disease, and started medication that helped me get better. My medication was Colazid, I live in Sweden so perhaps the medication is different here, has another names or such. The medicin helped me get better but I still had reoccuring lapses with pain and diarrhea at random intervals. The medication made my skin smell different (not pleasant) and also made me feel a bit tired when I really shouldn't be.

One month ago I completely stopped taking my medication and I have felt perfect since, no problem with my digestive system in any way! The solution to my problems came from my mother, who like to try different organic stuff, vitamins and such, and she urged me to try a herbal drink called Vita Biosa that is supposed to be good for maintaining a healthy digestive system. I was still eating my medication but started complementing it with this small herbal drink every morning and evening, and after a week I noticed that I hadn't had any problems since starting with the herbal thing! Shortly after I decided to quit my medication completely (no, I'm no doctor but I know my body better than he does) and only take the herbal shots morning and evening and I haven't regretted it. Now I'm one month free of medication and feel amazingly good with no hint of digestive problems at all. One month is a short time to draw conclusions from but I am fully confident that my problems are gone and won't come back.

I don't know how to write this so that it doesn't sound like I'm trying to sell some product or promoting a miracle cure. I have read a few posts with your stories and I really feel for all of you and remember my own personal hell with this disease, and having found something that works for me I want to tell you this so that perhaps someone reading this also can be helped by this.

This product is produced by a danish company and I'm not sure if it's available in the states.

I'm not sure about the forum rules so I won't include an URL to the company web site, but Google for it and you should find some info that can help you be better informed about this product. If some admin approves I can add the URL to the company for easier access to the information about the product.

Rob what is the name of this product and/or company? What is it about the product you feel is beneficial and why? If you are legit and not just marketing some junk I am interested.

Hm. Looks like every other 'health' drink out there.

It's a molasses-based herbal tonic with a squirt of fruit juice. It's got the trendy buzz-word of Probiotics, but I wonder how effective the cultures would be in what appears to be a highly fermented product. This stuff probably has an alcohol kick to it.

On the other hand, there's no ingredients from exotic locales in the Amazon or Himalayas or a new-age celebrity endorsement. You can buy it from various online sources, and not via a pyramid distribution system.

It probably doesn't kill people. I'll say that much.

Forgive our skepticism, but this is a tough audience here. Advocating impulsively tossing aside one's medications (regardless of degree of effectiveness) for a consumer product is probably not something the site administrators would look favorably on.

Hi all!

First of all I must say that I totally understand if people can be a bit skeptic about my post, considering it's my first post on this forum and I start raving about some product that "cured" me. To my defence I would like to add that I found this forum at lunch break at work and I knew that if I didn't write that post at once I probably would forget about it and never write it, and since it was my lunch break I didn't have very much time to elaborate on my experience. I will try to fill in the gaps in my story. :)

I would also like to make very clear that I do NOT ask/tell people to give up their medication on a whim and replace with some herbal potion, I'm just saying that I did and it works for me. And I took this rather drastic step because I dislike taking medicine for any reason, which can be considered a bit foolish but thats the way I am. I went for more than 3 years with almost constant pain of some sort, without visiting a doctor and never using any medication for my problems. This was of course really stupid of me, had I checked up on my problems at once I wouldn't have had to go through years of agony and pain.

My medical history with Crohns is this, for many years stressed out at work and bringing it home with me since I own the company. In 2003 my real troubles began with unexplained cases of diarrhea, I figured it was stress related and thought it would pass with time. Stress only got worse after that and so did my problems with a constant "upset stomach" and more frequent diarrheas. I figured it could be some intolerance to gluten or lactose and changed my diet during periods to avoid this or that. That didn't change anything and my descent continued. After a year with diarrheas (sometimes containing blood) every time I went to the bathroom I had enough and got medical treatment. The colonoscopy was really painful and I hope to never experience that ever again.

I was put on a short cortison steroid treatment and then given a big box of something called Colazid to be taken morning and evening for...the rest of my life, unless I got worse. Well, I'm actually a positive person and figured that as long as the medication cured me I was ok with taking pills every day. The problem was that it only almost cured me, I was still having lapses of diarrhea, not very often perhaps a couple of times per month, and on rare occations extreme agonizing 3-hour pain in my intestines (where I always have been lucky to be at home near the toilet). This is my life for 15 months until the beginning of August this year (2008).

One month ago my mother, who is in to ecological/organic foods and natural medicines, brings me a copy of a swedish magazine, 2000-talets vetenskap (21st century science) that contains an article about this product Biosa. I read the article and it peaks my interest, to say the least. As it happens my mother had already bought a bottle of Biosa and I started using it, a little at morning and a little at night. The taste is hard to describe, a little acid perhaps and not all that pleasant, but down the hatch it went! I still was on my regular medication at the time and really had no plan of quitting, knowing what was waiting for me if i did.

Now I have to get a little specific and explain that even on medication (Colazid) I never really had solid stool and that bothered me a bit. For me a healthy digestive system equals solid poo, and I had none of that even on medication. Imagine my amazement when after a few days of drinking this herbal tonic my poo started acting like real poo, as in being very solid, and my stomach felt just fine! I can't tell you how happy that made me feel. I went with it for a week and after that I decided to try stop taking my medicine (without consulting my doctor I must confess), which I thought didn't work very well and had some side effects like making me smell different in a bad way and making me fell more tired.

Continuing with the herbal drink and no medication is where I am right now and I feel wonderful! It's a pleasure to go to the bathroom, it's silly but I still get excited about having solid poo. My skin has started smelling less bad and I don't feel tired anymore.

This is my experience and I can't say if it will work for someone else.

Yes, I have only gone without medication for a month and things could happen down the road, but the way I feel right now is so much better than when I was on medication, it's almost impossible to compare, and most important of all, I HAVE NO MORE PROBLEMS WITH MY DIGESTIVE SYSTEM! :ylol2:

The article from the magazine is in Swedish and I can't find it online, it's in the printed magazine only. This is an excerpt from their web site (translated from Swedish by me):

The Japanese researcher Teruo Higa began in 1960 to experiment with different bacterial mixes to improve yields in agriculture. After many years of experimenting he found the right formula. By fermentation and cultivation of
many different types of bacterial strains the agriculture, environment and human health can be revolutionized. These effective micro-organisms, EM, has finally reached our latitudes. The Danish entrepreneur Erik Nielsen researches and produces this bacterial mix in the name Biosa...

I could try to get the copy from my mother and translate the whole article for you if you want me to?

I can't say much about the contents of Vita Biosa, I can only read what it says on the bottle and that really says nothing to me. I don't know what in it does it for me but I can only tell you what an amazing effect it has on me and how good I feel now. Comparing the cost for a years consumption of the herbal drink it's a little more expensive than my medication would be (although medicines are heavily subsidized in Sweden and I would never have to pay more than a total of $300 for any amount of medication per year).

I really don't want to raise peoples hopes for nothing, but I know for my own part this is doing wonders for me and perhaps someone else can benifit from this? If someone told me 6 months ago that my problems with Crohns disease would go away by drinking only 2x10 ml per day of a lightly discusting brew, I would have a hard time believing it too. But I don't believe it works, I KNOW it works.

I'm not trying to sell you anything, I'm just trying to help in any way I can.

To answer Hippe4lyfe, the company is Biosa Danmark and more information can be found here. I don't know how to get hold of it in your country, it's not very easy to find shops in Sweden that sell it.

This post got a little longer than I thought but I hope I have shed a little more light on my situation.

That is cool that it worked for you, but judging by the ingredients there are definitly people who it would be totally bad for. It is all personal choice. I prefer medications over any other method.

:) Welcome to the forum.

They are called ALT Characters. You hold down the ALT key and using the numberpad you type in the alt-code, like 14. ALT 14 is the music note.. try it out.

robmon thank you - i looked into the website it seems interesting. but the amount of herbs seem rather small and i already take a probiotic so im not sure its worth it. i might just take another herb supplement.

Well, RobMon....

My guess is that you'll be back on some sort of Crohn's medication at some point in time. That's just the way it works.

Glad to hear the tonic is working out for you right now, though.

I disagree. Meds just make me feel worse. Kudos to those who are trying to get off of them and take the natural route. I come from the opinion that diet caused the disease and diet can cure it. I know most of you don't espouse that point of view. Whatever it takes! To Health!

My guess is that I will never be back on medication for Crohns, but I'm an optimist so who knows? All that matters right now is that I have found something that makes me feel very good and keeps me off medication. I really have no clue if and how it will work for anyone else, but I hope does for anyone who decides to give it a try.

I will try to post updates about my status using Vita Biosa and you will surely hear from me if things get worse, but they won't! :)

And sometime if you're lucky, I will tell you about how I got rid of 5+ years of irritating dry coughs, but perhaps I should find a more appropriate forum for that?

Sincerely, I'm not trying to give you a hard time. Personally, I like to help the doctor (and myself) out by doing what I can to treat the illness from my end. I went through a very long period of remission which I attributed to a sensible diet and lifestyle changes. It worked for a long time. Now it doesn't.

I'm trying out a few different things and try to keep an open mind regarding various supplements -- but I do it now under a doctor's care. Also, my new best friend is my local pharmacist. Young guy up on the various supplements and natural stuff. I think he gets bored sitting behind the counter, so he welcomes a chance to chat with customers. He's not really pushy about selling me anything. Oftentimes I walk out without buying anything because he's suggested I head over to the grocers instead.

I think we all know our own bodies more than anyone else ever could (including medical professionals), but I think it's a bad idea to take things into our own hands. Especially if something suddenly gives us instant relief, as it might be a temporary masking of symptoms or a placebo effect. One month is not a long time for a disease that stays with you for life.

I'm all for alleviation of symptoms by all or any means necessary, but after having gone so long without consulting a doctor there's no way I would ever go back to trying to cure myself. They've got a parchment hanging on the wall and I don't.
