I have been experiencing symptoms of Crohn's for about 18 months. Initially I thought I was just having bad side effects for medications to treat my Sjogren's and Rheumatoid Arthritis. By the time I got around to getting a colonoscopy I was on Humira, MTX and prednisone (along with a bunch of others). The test came back normal...not Crohn's. Is it possible that because I was basically on all the meds for Crohn's that it came back normal but I still have it? TIA

Hi, welcome to the forum. Yes, those medications are all used for Crohn's and certainly could have healed things to the extent that nothing would be found on colonoscopy. Another possibility is that you may have Crohn's higher up in your small intestine where the scope couldn't see (colonoscopy only sees the very end of the small intestine, and upper endoscopy only sees the very beginning, meaning that there's a lot of small intestine that isn't being visualized/biopsied). If it were me, I'd be asking my doctor their opinion. Are you going to be coming off of prednisone anytime soon? You may want to schedule more tests down the road after you've been off of pred for a couple months, and see if anything shows up then. My GI refuses to do any tests on me when I'm on steroids as he says it's a waste of time and he won't find anything. Definitely something to talk with your doctor about. Good luck!

I've always had fine colonoscopies, because my symptoms were higher up in my digestive tract. Very possible it's the same for you.
