I have severe scoliosis , neck pain and bad joint pain. My ortho prescribed an NSAID to me to bring down the inflammation. He was concerned about me having Crohn's but I asked him for it anyway because I have been in remission for 3 years and I do take things like aleeve with no problem. The next day was great, I hadn't felt that great in years, but I noticed a difference in my bowl habits after 2 days so I stopped. I continued to take it about one a week to bring down the inflammation when it got bad, just until I could see my ortho next. So he prescribed me an anti inflammatory patch that I can just put over my spine for my scoliosis. I tried it, it helped a little, but my neck and joints still hurt so I'm back to taking the NSAID. My question is, its there anything I can talk to my doctor about taking instead that will bring down the inflammation? As anyone else had thus problem?

Prednisone is used to treat inflammation and doctors prescribe it to people with arthritis for this reason. The side effects of prednisone suck, but it may be just the thing to help you.

I don't know of anything else that could help other than maybe prednisone :(

How frequently were you taking the NSAID when he first prescribed it and you started seeing bowel changes? What types of bowel changes did you notice?

How frequently do you currently take it?

Entocort helped with my joint pain. I have osteoarthritis just about everywhere but it mostly hurts my hips and back. When I took Entocort last the joint pain went away and returned when I stopped it. Other options are Humira and Remicade. Humira got rid of my joint pain completely and its slowly returning even though I stopped taking it months ago. Remicade is similar to Humira so I should see the same results in regards to it controlling my joint pain. Remember, these meds are not for bad cases of Crohn's only. They are also used to help maintain remission which is why I'm trying them. Although you have your surgery coming up so I'd wait on those really.

Yea, I think after surgery I'm going back on Humira, I remember it helping before. Maybe I can try entocourt for the time being

Chicago, I started noticing my bm's were a lot softer and there was a bit of mucos, and I was going more than usual. I only take it once a day (when needed)
