I tried searching the forum but its like looking for a needle in a haystack when you don't know the name!

What was the numbing agent someone used for their kid for Humira that the pharmacy added? Was it Farmwife or DustyKat or Penguin? I can't remember and I have a call with the doc in the morning. Anyone remember?

I recall it was something added right to the syringe but I am definitely fine adding it myself or doing an additional injection to avoid the pain for D.

It was mlp. Lidocaine was the numbing med.
We use a lotion called Emla. It had lidocaine in it.

We have been using a spray that doesn't help at all. Wonder if injection would help more. I think the spray has it in it.

My young nephew puts a spoon in the freezer for a half hour or so when the site for his insulin pump needs changing. A couple minutes on the skin and he's good to go.

Ours is a lotion but truthfully Grace gets upset no matter what.
Now I just get it out of the fridge and give it right away.
In a way it works better for her but she's five and is still learning her days of the week.:)

We tried a numbing cream too, but it didn't work. I met one Mom whose daughter has JIA who does the same thing MLP does and says it makes all the difference!

Icing before and after also helped M. And leaving Humira out for about an hour, so that it wasn't cold at all.

Thanks for the paper! I will fax it over to her. She has to resxhedule the phone call today. All she said in the message is she has good news and she wants to discuss strategy. Wish I knew what that meant!

Icing has done nothing for us & I think she has built up anxiety towards it. I am thinking we might start doubling Humira & if that the case I want lidocane then.

We definitely had that problem - M went from injecting it herself (just the first two shots) to dreading "Humira day". I wish we'd known about lidocaine then, I hope it helps!

We are "trying" meditation as well .
Lidocaine does help - screams were so bad DH would leave the room to crying but distract able pain kwim.
