Hey friends,

I've been on Humira about a year and a half. It has been working great for me, however since the last month or so I have been having numbness in my hands and fingers, and recently my left arm (im left handed too). It feels as though my hand is asleep, like the feeling when you wake up in the morning and realize you've slept on your hand, as if it didn't get enough blood flow for a while. My muscles in my arm also feel weak, as if I just did some one handed pushups on that arm and its really tired. I have no idea why its been feeling like this. Anyone else experience this? It may or may not be the Humira, but tomorrow is the day I need to take my next dose and I'm also afraid to. Anyone else go through this?

Thank you for your time and help! :sign0085:

Hello Chad,
Sorry you are having these problems.
It is important for you to let your doctors know as soon as possible about the symptoms of numbness and if possible to be in touch prior to taking any more meds.
Are you taking flagyl or any other drugs besides humira?
If you are unable to reach your doctors a visit to an ER would be in order.
You should not continue to endure such symptoms on your own.It is always wise to report to an MD.
You may like to visit the humira section of the forum , click on treatment and should bring you to the section.Other members taking humira may be better able to advise you.
Feel better soon
Hugs and best wishes

Thank you for your responses! I haven't taken Flagyl in over a year. Just the humira and benadryl. I do not take iron because it seems to make my Crohn's a lot worse, making it even harder for me to go to the bathroom. I do eat foods that have iron, I just can't take the supplements. I had a blood test done not too long ago and they didn't mention anything about my iron/hemoglobin levels. I will take a trip back to the doctors soon.

Thank you for your help!

Chad

Please do not wait to call your doctor about this symptom. It could be a sign of a serious reaction to the Humira that may lead to long term damage to your nervous system.

Only your doctor can determine this.

Please call today. Do not wait any longer.

I would get your B12 levels checked as well sometimes numbness symptoms are from a vitamin deficiency. If you want to try a good iron supplement that is milder on the stomach look for the brand Feosol called Bifera with HIP & PIC Iron in it. This is the natural iron you get from foods so it takes longer to work but supposedly has a higher absorption rate than even higher dose iron and doesn't upset the stomach as bad.

Chad-
I'm having similar symptoms, but haven't been on Humira for that long (about a month and a half).

Tingling/numbness in my hands, but with a lot of swelling in my ankles...they have tested me for everything under the sun it seems (venous insufficiency, kidney/liver failure, heart disease, blood clots) and everything comes back normal.

Please if you find out whats going on, pass along the info!

I've had a couple of appointment with doctors. Tomorrow I go see a specialist and get a MRI. I hope it's nothing serious, as I am very worried. Thank you all for your help. I will keep you updated.

Chad

In rare cases humira can start the onset of multiple sclerosis.

Same situation for me , i've had an mri scan and now waiting for another test before i can start using humira again.

Thanks all! Still using Humira, still feeling the numbness. I had a MRI done which came back normal, and saw a neurologist who did some tests on me (sticking needles in me and sending electric shocks) and he said that looked normal too. I have noticed that anti-depressant medicine that I was given helps a little bit.
