Visited doc and I'm starting to wean off steroids (yay!)...now 30mg/day.

Given crohns and my recent kidney stones, doc suggests I see a nutritionist. I found one that seems knowledgeable but I'm not quite sure what I'm looking for.

Any advice on what I should expect? Questions I should ask? What am I supposed to gain out visting a nutritionist?

One who has obvious grasps of both rudimentary nutrition (if they purport low fat diets and don't know what trans fats are stay away), and more importantly, one who understands the oddities and evils of Crohns, and who will guide you through YOUR version of Crohns. If your small bowel is affected, they should dispense differing advice than if your large is affected. A solid nutritionist should be important if you're struggling with this disease and having problems with gaining/losing weight due to disease, and lacking nutritional intake from the limited and handicapped options. Should be able to mitigate symptoms even if they're well versed and you give them a starting point. At least these are my views. Lookout, the one they sent to my hospital room knew less about nutrition than a shirt-eating goat.
