As of, what looks like the beginning of November, I can (in theory) now eat Burger King finally, should the occassion arise. If fast food was ever chosen, I was only eating Wendy's for having the lowest trans fat content (of more or less zero grams) of the cheap ones (Wendy's, McDonalds, Burger King, Taco Bell, White Castle are the cheap ones....KFC isn't that cheap, but they have zero trans fat oil too)..because, FINALLY......Burger King now has 0, ZERO, grams trans fat oils, I realize there can still be a minor amount (from zero to 0.5 grams), but if it's there, looking at their revised nutritional contents and studying it, it appears it has to be very small if existent, because even their largest fry has "zero", and that has to mean that the small fry is very low in them. Previously, they were just as bad as McGreaseDonalds, and had about 6 g trans fats in a large fry, which is ludicrous. I refuse to eat something like that (Denmark has them banned, and I thought Canada did or is trying to too).

I didn't eat at Wendy's all the time, but if I did, I usually will get like a side salad, a chicken go-wrap, and a Double Stack....For high protein, high calories, high nutrient/vitamin, and nearly no trans fat food (with exception to the natural ones in the beef) that was a good deal, for only a couple bucks, that food was sweet. Now BK can be an option for this void to fill too. Makes a happy bodybuilder. Mmm, Whopper and fries and a spicy chickN crisp, I want to be healthy and go to the gym again...:ymad:

McDonalds, the ball is in your court, get a move on it Ronald McDonald.

Excited are we? Great title. I can totally hear you sayin that.
Wendy's was the thing that made me feel the best when I didn't have any energy or appetite in a flare. Just 2 kid's cheeseburgers. Glad to hear it makes you so happy, Benson.

I don't think I've eaten a McDonald's product in 23 years. Wendy's in at least a decade, and Burger King has never had much of a market presence in my neck of the woods.

Once in a blue moon, I might hit up an A&W, but otherwise, I've never been big on franchised food.

And I like hamburgers just fine -- my own!

Just not into fast food I guess. Grease has bothered me since I left high school.

Yes Canada has gone no trans fats. Funny I dont know one person who likes Wendy's up here!

If I had to pick a fast food joint to go to it would be Wendy's, their spicy chicken sandwich is so good!

This thread is making me hungry!

Yes, excited a bit, I try to avoid TFA's (Trans Fatty Acids in nutrition circles) a good deal, and cheap quick food that tastes good is always nice, provided it won't give me damaging effects.

I only like boneless chicken (ie: grilled chicken breast, chicken tenderloin, chicken tenders, boneless wings, etc...) from any place, so KFC has that, but that's pretty expensive, although they have KFC snackers, but there's not much too them (they're like a buck, though)....So Pen, the stuff I would prefer isn't as greasy as it may seem, but yes, some of it is fried. Have no clue why you guys dont like Wendy's, tastes great to me, eh.

edit: Wiles likes Wendy's, Pen, so, sounds like it's isolated to your little neck of the woods maybe. :)

I would consider living off that Spice Chicken sandwich if it wasn't $4 Wiles, damn expensive for constant purchase, but that thing is awesome!

I never go near BK or Mickey D's, but KFC is my treat every now and then.... especially the skin!!!

Tasteless? You haven't had a good grilled chicken breast with great seasoning. Mmmmmm, marination......

Yeah, I about die for grilled chicken marinated in Cornell sauce (created at Cornell Uni, I think?) It's like the firemen's chicken bbqs. I could lick someone's face after they eat that.

i like wendy's mandarin chicken salads, sans the nuts and fried noodles. yummy!

i don't eat fast food very often. most of it is pretty gross.

After working this last month at a fast food joint...I don't think I'd eat at any of them....Chainsaw scary

I should be the same way, after my eye-witness accounts from a year at McDonalds in high school. They once picked a patty up off the floor and put it back on the double cheeseburger, turned to each other and laughed. :ymad:

I will freak about any source of food though if I think about it, at least at like a place like Subway (I LOVE Potbelly, anyone have one of those by you? Sub shop place) or something, I can see it made. You have no clue really, what kind of QC was done on a meal at a sit down place or on boxed/canned/bagged foods either, though.

I think fast food is gross based solely on it's nutritional content, but I'm weird.

i love subway. they really do mean it when they say it's "fresh." i also like how you are in control of your food and what goes on your sandwich/wrap/salad. my only complaint is they always put on WAY too much mustard or dressing.

most of the nutritional statistics of fastfood restaurants are HORRENDOUS. it's all sodium, HFCS, and fat. but not trans fat anymore. hurrah for small improvements!

even worse is jersey mike's. if you ask for oil and vinegar, they'll give you a sub with the bread completely soaked and dripping. yuck!

Here's the order of importance (for non-Crohns criteria) that I'll judge in assessing a potential food item for "yay or nay": Trans fats (none), Saturated fat (reasonable), Protein (high), Fiber (high), Calories (goal-specific), Sodium (decent), and HFCS (limited to none)....if all those fall in line, then the product is simply judged on price. The carbs have to be goal-specific too, so if there's a lot of carbs/sugar, I'll accept it and use it for around a workout for extra fuel if I'm bulking. If any of the criteria fail, then I will not consume it most of the time. I'm not as stringent on sodium as the RDA, because with a very active fitness level, when you drip in sweat often, you can consume and replenish more sodium than sedentary average joes. Fiber doesn't have to be high, but it's more of a perk, because I need to get it from somewhere to get upwards of 20g a day (this again, is non-Crohns).

Crohns is a whole other story, and more or less it's trans fats-free, low saturated fat, low sugar, low fiber, high protein, and that's mostly all. Then again, I still don't fully understand "my" Crohns, I think it is ever adapting, kind of like a virus mutating to survive, so I'll never get an edge.

or for normal, non-body-builder people:
fat (low to none), protein (moderate), fiber (REALLY high), calories (as low as possible), sodium (just enough to be edible), HFCS (none)...
:)

Mine more or less is for normal people, the calories is about all you have to change (well, protein has to be super high instead of high, but that's what 6 meals a day will add to for 1 gram/lb of bodyweight). If you look, mine isn't too different than the South Beach Diet or any of those that you'd hear from a good dietician, it's quite healthy. And for everybody, you shouldn't do "low fat" because you'll lump them all together, there's plenty of good fats, Omega 3's are about the opposite of trans fats (think of Omega3 vs Trans as God's fats vs Satan's fats). Remember, we don't like stereotyping. :)

If I was to try to do one for a general Crohns list it would look like: ialhsgofihaoiuvfhnvnhgiurfvabnavubuirvau (high), kahoiafdshvbas (moderate), adihfnvasjdkfaks (high), adiosfjaosdibvsajidf (low or none), and toilet paper (infinite).
