So I moved and tried to make an appointment with a new GP so I can get general medical help and get referrals to specialists in the area (such as a new GI) and the docs office I found that accepts my insurance says I need to change my address or rather, change my county, my case worker and all that jazz. See, I have SSI and therefore have Medi-Cal as my only insurance and they like to screw you like you've never been screwed before. So I changed my address with Social Security (SS) which took 20 over the phone and then found the number to change my address with Medi-Cal. The chick from medi-cal says that after I changed my address with SS, I need to go to the SS office and fill out the CL15 form there and submit it to them and then take the completed form to the Social Services office where Medi-Cal is and then change my address there where I can hopefully make a doctor's appointment. She said I have to make an appointment with SS first to complete the form so I called the number she gave me, it said the line was busy and to call back later, again and again till finally I called their 1-800 number and sat on the phone for another 20 min (eating up all my cell minutes btw) to try and make an appointment at my local SS office. I made an appointment but its not for another 2 weeks on Aug 9th. So I have to wait 2 weeks to change my address. Why the hell can't I do this over the phone? Even snail mail is faster. Then after that I'll probably have to wait a week to 3 weeks to see a doctor at the doctors office... So in 3-5 weeks, I'll get to see a GP...

This is so ridiculous! I was yelling at no one after I got off the phone each time. I'm sure my new neighbors love me. :p I hate ALL medical insurance. It's a waste of time and destroys people's lives. And I especially hate you Medi-Cal!

I'm a crabby crab right now.

Ugh red tape sucks! You've had a hard time of it and it's awful to have to try filling out those forms when you're not feeling well...I wish I could speed things up for you :( I hope they rush it through and get you sorted soon...

Thanks. Yes it is very frustrating. My mom used to have to deal with all this stuff when I was younger and now I get to deal with all this crap. Crap I say! :p

Oh God!
I moved house at Xmas, and when I became ill with an obstruction in January, my sister was on the phone to our surgery of GPs who we'd been with for 37 years! They wouldn't budge, they said I had moved and was out of the boundaries, and had been knocked off the register, and had to register somewhere else!
My sister phoned PALS (patient advice liaison services) they saved my life! they found me a new GP closer to my new house, he visited straight away, called an ambulance and the rest is history!
If I had left it up the jobsworth ******* receptionists, I would be dead!
I really empathise Crabby, I really do!

That really sucks Joan. At least my insurance covers emergency visits so I don't have to worry about that.

*Silver starts throwing marshmallows at dumba$$ medical insurance receptionist's heads....*

Why does it seem that people TRULY in need of social assistance have the hardest time getting it??? :voodoo::ymad:

*Silver hands her marshmallow bag over to Crabby....*
