Hello I have been on humira for about 3 months every 2 weeks ,well on the week before Christmas I started to get sick, I had a ear infection in both ears The right one was pretty bad ,I couldn't hear out of it so went to doc and was put on a dose of antibiotics, and told not to do my dose of humira on christmas eve until the infection clears up, well a week later The ear infections are not cleared up.my ears are still making a popping sound, and sometimes not being able to hear clearly, I still haven't had my humira,What I am asking is, my diarrhea started back up yesterday I have right side pain and diarrhea , would you think it could be my Crohn's? A flare? Again? I am really worried , cause I wanted to go back to work this month... :( I don't see the gastro doc till the 24th, so tired today....... :( you think it is because I missed my dose? You think my ear infection progressed to get so bad because of the humira lowering my immune system ? So lost :(

Momnsyd Humira did a great job at controlling my diarrhea and joint pain and when I stopped it these issues came back. I'm sure they would have gone away again if I had started back on it but I couldn't due to it causing too many upper respiratory infections. I only took it for a few months.

What you can do is contact the pharmacist from the place that supplies your Humira (mine was delivered and there was a number I could call to speak with a pharmacist if there was ever an issue) and ask them what they think you could do. My money is on the Crohn's creeping up and causing issues but if you still have an infection then injecting again might not be a good idea.

Also yes I do think you've been sicker for longer due to the reduced immune system. The last time I got sick while on Humira it lasted for over a month although I personally think I was gradually getting better but then just got sick again with the same thing weeks later. I'm switching to Remicade because there's supposed to be a lesser chance of getting sick as often due to them being able to control the dosage better, supposedly, we'll see.

Humira vs Remicade/infliximab. My gastroenterologist and I are discussing going on stronger medication (I'm on Imuran right now). What are people's thoughts on the effects of Humira vs Remicade? Humira would be more convenient, even if it is more frequent, just because I'd be administering the injections myself instead of having to go to a clinic all the time.

Awww sweet, thanks so much Crabby! I'll check 'em out, and then use that Search tip. I'm still pretty new to this forum, but I'm lovin' it, it's been so helpful already.
