I was only put on Lialda. I take probiotics but less than I should because of money issues. Has anyone fully recovered on Lialda? I've been on it 4 months almost and can't get out of my house much and still can't work at all and I had to quit college :( I'm new to Crohns and it's literally changed my life!

Sorry you are having a tough time and if you live in the states I am sorry for that too. Crohns does change you life in some ways but you learn with meds or diet and meditation to control your disease. Not everyone has a rough go of it. I have never been on Lialda but I hope someone can help you out soon. Probiotics do help. Do you have pain or symptoms , what and where is it located? Keep us updated.

I'm sorry you're having so much trouble :( What are your current symptoms? Have you talked to your doctor about the fact that Lialda isn't sufficient to control your symptoms?

I can't get another appointment because I'm broke :( I'm going to try to call tomorrow they're closed today. I've been on Lialda 4 months and I've still been unable to get out of my apartment much, having 5-10 bowl movements a day. Youd probably say 5 is good....well not so much because even if it's 5 I still have constant fatigue, nausea, intestinal spasms, rectum pain, doesn't matter what I eat it seems and I have 21 pages written in my food journal, stress any kind of stress whether excitement or fear of social environments because of my crohns makes me more stressed and sick, I have pains once in awhile after I eat or random, and loud gut sounds, anxiety my chest has been hurting like crazy, sometimes weakness, pretty much everything :(

I have been there with the pain, nausea, and constant diarrhea. I also just recently ended up getting insurance. I ended up having to have surgery which helped get rid of the pain and constant nausea. I had my first surgery in august, and spent all my time until January paying for everything out of pocket. Fortunately there are some drugs that are reasonably priced out of pocket. I know that lialda didnt do anything for me, and sounds like it may not be doing anything for you. I would definitely talk with your GI about the possibility of something else that is reasonably priced. My GI was really good about that. I agree with david about applying for assistance. If you dont know where to start looking, hospitals normally have social workers who can assist you.

Would they of given you the surgery without insurance? I don't qualify for medicaid because I'm waiting on disability and they keep denying me. My doctor I guess sent in a paper saying I should of been able to work by the beginning of this year, but obviously I can't. So him saying that is going to make it impossible to get disability :(

state assistance will not help. Cash assistance (welfare) is only if your pregnant or have kids (Yes they told me this!). I just got off the phone for my DFA job and family hearing (Disability financial assistance) through Job and Family not ss.......and they said they'll send me papers and I'll have to sign them and send them back and see if they approve...

They did both of my surgeries without me having insurance. Part of that was probably because the initial one was to save my life, and the second one was to reverse the ileostomy that was given to me.
