On my own for colonoscopy prep?

My husband is away working so I will be on my own on prep night is this OK? Do I need someone with me?

He is taking me to the procedure on Friday and driving me home and staying with me for 24 hours after but I will be at home alone during the prep the night before (apart from the dog!)

Is that OK?

The colonoscopy prep means numerous visits to the bathroom
Be sure to drink lots of clear fluids several cups an hour it makes the prep work better and keeps you hydrated.clear drinks like Gatorade but no red orange or purple colours.
You will probably be better on your own with the dog for company.....it's no big deal just a little uncomfortable with all the bathroom visits....you do need the bathroom to yourself.
You have your computer and for company you can talk to us any time.

I agree.You'll probably be grateful you're on your own for the prep.Make sure the bathrooms warm,use baby wipes rather than tissue,and nappy cream or suda crème as you will get sore.And as Trysha said.drink plenty of water.It's not so bad really,and the colonoscopy's a breeze.

Just think of it as a time to catch up on your favorite book My fiancee always takes me to the procedure, but usually I am alone for the prep.

Yes you can do the prep alone. i've done it many times. Its nice to have some reading material for the toilet.

My first one was terrifying. But in hindsight its not that bad, just the fear of the unknown! How did you get on? (with the prep and colonoscopy?)

I was on my own for my prep a couple of weeks ago & I was like you a little apprehensive but it was fine & not as bad as i thought it would be, the worse part for me was the taste of the drink

Besides hating gatorade forever after this, you're ok. Be close to a bathroom. Good luck with your possible diagnosis!

Thanks everyone. I start my prep on Thursday and the restricted low residue diet tomorrow (no wine!!!! LOL).

Colonoscopy on Friday! Nervous!

You'll be fine.Just a thought,when you mentioned wine....

While prepping,don't drink anything coloured red.It might show up during your colonoscopy and be mistaken for inflammation.

Hi Scottsma. Don't worry I wont be drinking any alcohol at all - just water for me as instructed by my GI nurse. Not looking forward to the prep! Urgh!

Try drinking it with a straw,that way it passes your taste buds.
But the bathroom visits were the worst for me.We're all different though,so it might not be a problem for you.
