My DS is a hockey player too! All 3 of my boys play and my husband played in college and is a coach. They suspect he has CD after doing an endoscopy to look for Celiac disease due to lack of weight gain and heigh over the past 2years. He has no blood markers or symptoms of Chrons so the doctors were surprised. He has a colonoscopy in 2 weeks that may confirm things.

Glad your son was ready in time for the season! How old is he?

The son with possible Chrons is 13, I also have a 15 year old and an 11 year old. Canada is definitely #1 when it comes to hockey. My kids all play forward. One center and 2 wings.

My 13 year old has very delayed puberty and is much smaller than all of the kids but has no problems knocking them down and keeping up. If we can figure what is going on with him, it would be nice to see how he does when he grows some and starts puberty!

He is supposed to go for his inflammatory blood panel tomorrow and they will also re-look at his SED rate and CRP that were normal in July. He has a slight cold, should we wait to do the test?

I would get all his bloods done but let his gi no if he still has cold when he goes for His colonoscopy hopefully he will be ok to go through with it Jordan has all the tell tale signs of chrons his WBC was high his crp was 85 befor he started his steroids and imuran I hope they get to the bottom of it and you get some answers it is really hard when us parents no there is something not right with our children but we cannot get to the botto
of it I will have everything crossed you get some answers and everything goes ok Let us no how he gets on and hang on in there mom xxx

Congrats on your son's recovery! What a great victory for him! He's obviously a fighter! Can't even imagine how happy you must have been to watch him play! :hockey:

My son also plays hockey, absolutely loves it! His season is also starting soon, has had a couple of practices and first tournament next weekend!

Thanks Tess I hope your son has a great season you will have to keep in touch to let us no how his season goes Jordan I read your story about your son and something that has stuck in my head is the ibroprofen pain kilers Jordan was in them for about 3 month last season for his knee when he went down to make a save he twisted his knee and like your son wouldn't give in so he was taking ibroprofen to try and ease the pain in games and training tell him good luck in his new season xxx

So sorry to hear about the Russian plane crash...:(

Must be a shock to those of you that follow the sport.

Dusty.

Yes, very sad. Seems there have been many sad stories surrounding hockey lately. :frown:

I couldn't believe it. Two of the players were CO Avalanche.
Way too many sad hockey stories over the past few months.
