op unsuccessful?

hi everyone, im almost 4 weeks over my bowel resection the op itself went fine but aftrwards the pain was unbearable and it turned out i was allergic to the morphine,i was kept in hospital for a week and when i got home i got a really bad throat infection, then my scar got infected and then the site where the drain was got infected, but the past 3/4 days ive been feeling a lot better and then today i've been in pain but it doesnt feel like pain from the op it feels like crohns pain, before i start worrying that the op didnt work i just wanted to see had anyone else had this kind of pain after the op too and if it turned out to be nothing?

I have no idea if its nothing or not but you should contact your GI and let them know so they can run so tests and be sure that its nothing. Sometimes not all of the diseased section gets removed. What meds were you put on for after your surgery? Its important to continue maintenance medication to keep you in your forced remission.

they havent put me on any meds after the op except painkillers,i rang my gi and they said that it would be up to the surgeon that performed the surgery as until he discharged me from his care my medication would be up to him and he told me not to take anything until i see him on august 31st,i think if the pain comes back again though i might just go down to my own doctor and get him to put me on something it would be horrible to have another flare up so soon after the surgery id rather try to prevent it then try to get rid of a flare up you know

I had 3 resections done on June 25. I was septic and in the hospital for 14 days. I feel your pain and am so sorry that you are going through this. Can I ask what part of your intestines werre resected? I had most of my ilieum and cecum removed and about a foot of small intestine removed. I have chronic diarrhea now and am on a low res diet to help. I too feel like I am in the worst flare of my life and my dr told me that its bc of what they took out of me is why the big d and severe abdominal pain has come back. I actually go to my GI tomorrow to determine if Im able to go back on Remicade as this is what I was on before my intestines decided to explode on me. So I say all that to 1) your not alone going through this and 2) my dr said it was normal. Now every person is different but I just wanted to put my two cents in:) I really hope that you start feeling better soon and that they can get you back on some maintenence meds that work:)

they removed my terminal ilieum and a foot of small and large intestine, the pains havent come back since the other day so im hoping it was a once off,you poor thing going through all that and the diarrhea the painkillers ive been on actually slow your bowels down so i have the opposite problem of getting constipated all the time,im back with the surgeon on 31st of august so he should discharge me back to my gi then and she can hopefully sort out some maintenance medication for me,hope all goes well with you gi tomorrow and thanks for the reply, its nice to know you're not alone

I hope you feel better soon and it is a one off it might just be a healing pain, did you have any other symptoms with it?
