Today our Boston Terrier Allie was taken to the vet. She has been having boughts of diarrhea, sluggishness, and asking out many times of day and night. It is a on again and off again situation. The vet diagnosed her with colitis. Not sure what form. We will start her on special food and stop feeding her table scraps. Not the most fun news, but ironic.

Hey Doug.. sorry about our Allie 😯. At least she is in good company here with us lot.. you most sign her up as a member in her own right.. if its possible!!!. Big hugs to Allie also to you and Sandy. Lots of love Mandy 💕💞💖

Aw shame im sorry and the worst thing about is they cant even say how they are feeling im so sad now

Our English bull terrier was dx'd with colitis about 20yrs ago.She did ok on meds and careful feeding for many years after.
It was because I recognised the symptoms she had, that I went to the docs and was diagnosed eventually with I.B.D. I hope she feels better soon Doug.,it's such a worry when they're sick.

:tear:I just wanted to thank everyone for their concern. I will have to start treatment for my colitis by having my humans change my diet to a blend that is easier on my digestion. Science Diet and Pedigree both make such a blend. I also get to take probiotics.

Poor, poor Allie dog!
One of our cats also has bowel issues, maybe I should make him a user here as well, although dogs and cats.......

Hey Layla.. why not add your cat 🐺
After all they are family members and a better class of person than a lot of people ..lol. ☺💕

Poor Allie dog. I hope your new diet and lots of hugs from mum and dad make you feel better. And remember - you are sooooooooooooooo beautiful, with or without the nasty colitis.

Allie,my little friend didn't take to Science diet at all.But I had to be really tough and put it down regardless. She looked at me as if to say "you're kidding, right" But after a day or two of being awkward, she finally was so hungry that she would have eaten her hind leg.
Feel better soon,little lady.x

Hi Carol😎
I started on Science Diet yesterday. Also started getting a daily poece of Cheese. My humans are sneaking some pill but I love cheese too much to care about the pill. So far I like the Science Diet better than my old food. Haven't noticed much difference in symptoms though.

Hi Allie. I know what you mean on the cheese front,I love it too yummy. Glad you like the new diet, hang in there hun im sure it will improve things soon. Lots of hugs n tickles of the belly.

Allie's tummy isn't nearly as noisy now, and it is interesting to see her ignore the human food she smells we have in favor of going to get some science diet kibble. :eek2: Never thought I would see that. :eek2: :eek2: :eek2: And Allie finally got her wish of being accepted into Doug's cheesy club. (Doug doesn't share his cheese readily, my cheesy guy. :))
My poor little monkey Allie though.

Thats really good that she likes it so much.. makes it easier not having to kinda force her to eat it..
Aw our poor baby its not fair is it hun.
Hope she feels better soon tho with the diet n meds💕💕

It has been almost a week now, and I am still going outside at all hours of the night. Not as often during the day though. I am still staying with diet change and the cheese.... or I mean Pro-Biotics. I wonder if the cheese causes problems though. Maybe we need something else to put the pill in.

We need a doggy door. But it's not going to happen because the door would have to be installed in a glass French door, or in the brick at the side of the door. I think I know how I developed my sleeping disorders now.
Zzzzzzz

Hey Allie.. glad your sticking with the diet. If the daytimes trips outside are getting fewer hopefuly the night ones will soon follow suit..
As for the pro biotics maybe thay could be taken with a little ham or soft fruit , maybe ask your ma or pa on that hun.
Love n belly tickles 💕🐶

Mmm doggy door could be tricky with those options hun.. in the glass maybe possible but probably pretty expensive.. mite have to train Allie to lock n unlock the door ☺
That would be great if you could tho eh !!!.
Speaking of bad sleep thats what i should be doing now lol. 💕💕💋

How about a tiny bit of peanut butter to disguise the tablet ?
The trouble is, that once she realises you'll change her tasty bits if she gets awkward, she'll start turning her nose up regularly.
Maybe chicken (no skin) would be better, calorie wise.Or sardines/tuna ?
As you can tell,I've been through this many times.
As for lack of sleep, get Doug to walk her down the street, last thing. In his PJs if need be.
(sorry Doug)

Aw alli im happy that the day trips are better and hopefully the night ones will settle down soon, you have to keep taking your meds maybe with some meat or something. Lots of support to alli :)

I am getting all sorts of treats with a hard center, which I suspect is the pill. I particularly liked the piece of meat wrapped around my probiotic. My humans are also giving me peanut butter on the pill. I like that to.

My stomach is settling down. Yesterday Doug mowed the back lawn. He said he did not notice any deposits that appeared to be from diahrreah (Not sure I spelled that right). So things look like they are getting under control.

Oh, we took the remaining (2/3rds of a 40 lb bag) of my old food to the local Animal shelter. I figured the dogs there could use my old food.

Hi everyone. It has been since April since I posted, but I thought I would give you all my update. Basically, no news is good news. I am using a daily probiotic, which I LOVE to eat. I also like my new food. However, some mice have been invading the house and stealing my food! My humans have to put the food up at night. They also placed some mouse poison around the door to the garage, which is were the stupid mice have been coming in from. Don't worry, unless that door is open, I can't reach the poison.

I wish they would just leave my food alone!

Oh those pesky mice Allie dog. If i lived nearer i would stalk them and send them on their way. Cheeky little devils pinching your grub 😠
Hope you are feeling better my little lovely..🐶🐾🐾🐾💖💕

Glad you're feeling better Allie, and that you're enjoying your special food and medicine.
Belly rubs and ear scratches to you, sweet girl.
