HI, I just joined. I have UC, but I've really joined b/c my 8 year old daughter has just been DX with Crohns. She is recovering from her first episode- heart breaking. I just wanted to check in and make sure it was OK to use the forum primarily for help with managing my daughter's condition and if there is anyone else in this community who is a parent of a child with Crohns. I feel lost and alone. So much information out there it's overwhelming.

The three main questions I have right now are: is anyone on the Specific Carbohydrate Diet and what is your experience? two, my daughter loves fruit and vegetables. I know she is supposed to be on a low residue diet, but do any of you eat raw fruits and vegetables without causing your CD to flare up? Also, what is the longest you have gone w/o a flare? I need a little hope here.

Thank you dear ones. My heart and encouragement is with you

It is definitely ok to be here asking questions for your daughters care and such. There all kinds of people here effected by Crohns. Whether they are personally dealling with it themselves, or dealing with it through a loved one. All are welcome!! With that being said. ... Welcome!!!!

I'm so sorry to hear your daughter was diagnosed. I was just diagnosed 3 weeks ago, I have two daughters and now makes me very nervous about them. I'm a photographer and on one of the forums I belong to a photographer friend has a daughter that is around 3-4 that has Crohn's. I'm going to contact her and let her know about your daughter and maybe you two can talk, I know she fought it for quite some time before getting it into remission. I'm not much help since I'm just now learning about it all too since I was just recently diagnosed.

Welcome to the forum! I'm sorry to hear that she is dealing with this at such a young age. I myself was just diag back in March, so I'm still pretty new to all of this, but everyone here is a wealth of knowledge in their own right.

I love fresh f/v!! Sometimes I can eat them, sometimes I can not. Every day is different & every case of Crohns in different. I have been in the flare stage for over a year, was put on Entocort which really helped, for 4 months, was just taken off of it 2 weeks ago & I'm right back to square 1 with the symptoms.

Best of luck to you both!!!! :)

Welcome to a great place to find someone else to listen or share with. I am sooo sorry you are going through tough times with your daughter and yourself! This is the third story in 24 hours I have read with daughters and crohns. The others were under "my story". I think???? I have three daughters and the thought of dealing with crohns when it comes to my girls makes me so sad:( I guess that was probably not a very helpful statement >; I just am always trying to protect them the best I can and it would be tough when it comes to a disease that writes it's own rules...Please take care of you so you can take care of her :D

Some hope = I went 7 years with no flare up! The younger, IMO, the more chance of remission and quick recovery they have.
I have Crohn's and my 8 year old son has "stomach problems" thus far that I am hoping and praying is NOT Crohns or any other IBD.

Good luck!
