Had a bowel resection and fistula renpair last Thursday. Every inch of my bowel was hand examined and my surgeon said I am Crohn's free at this time. I will be going off the Remicade and will have a colonoscopy in 6 months, and yearly from then on.

Biggest issue while hospitalized was a cold I caught. Sneezing and coughing are extremely painful. On OTC meds for pain control and occasional codeine to control the cough.

Looking forward to returning home to warm Hawaii as I recuperate at my mothers house near cold rainy Seattle.

You must be so happy to get the surgery over with. It is great that you are crohns free, hopefully for a long remission. So he is not recommending a mild maintenance drug? Even I did that after both resections. It is nice to be in a warm climate, helps you heal better and relax. Hope you heal fast!

I have to make a decision whether to go with surgery so I'll be interested in hearing how your recovery goes.
Hope you get plenty of rest in sunny Hawaii and you heal well :)

No, i will take no medication. Both my GI doc and surgeon feel I'm very slow to develop symptoms and that inflammation was limited to the terminal ileum. They feel they can detect microscopic signs of inflammation via regular colonoscopies and will address it when they find it.

I had 30 years of chronic diarrhea (no other symptoms) until July of this year when I had a blockage. I was thrilled when I heard there were no other signs of CD in my entire GI tract.
