I've been flaring since my baby was born 15 months ago. I've gone from pentasa to aza and am now needing to start humira in a few weeks. A have a stricture and the doc is mentioning surgery but we are starting off on humira to see how it goes first.

I'm starting a new job in January and I'm really scared of how I'm going to handle working full time. I'm so fatigued it's unbelievable. I'm so sick and tired of being sick and tired. I need to start pred again but the side effects are hard to handle and budesonide hasn't worked well enough in the past.

I'm so down in the dumps. I just want to feel better, be a good mum and work, earn money etc etc. just getting up is hard at the moment. My friends just don't get it at all and I find that really hard too.

Please tell me there's light at the end of the tunnel.

I bet you are a fantastic mum it's just this disease can make us feel like complete failures. I posted something similar recently as I feel like a rubbish mum to my 7 month old being ill and running around after a little one is tough try not to beat yourself up.
Have you told your new job about your crohns? I was really scared when I first told my employer about it but they have been very supportive even letting me do flexible hours so I could fit it around appointments and when I would have a bad day.
I've just added methotrexate to cimzia that I was already taking and although I'm still not completely well I am already doing much better and that's after one dose. Hopefully they can get the humira started soon for you and that it works quickly

Keep pushing forward.. I completely understand the state your in right now and it is very hard. But there is a light at the end of the tunnel you just got to keep pushing and everything will figure it self out. Try not to stress out and over think the situation ( i know easier said than done lol ) but its the best thing for you and stressing/over thinking will only make matters worse.

Big hugs
Ds was 7 at dx and that first year was horrid while he tried drug after drug
I can say biologics were his miracle
He started remicade at age 8
Switched to humira after 8 months due to a reaction
Has been on humira ever since
Crohns has been fine
He has added a few other things along the way but
Gets to be a normal 12 year old
So hang in there
Going humira is your magic as well
( humira takes 3-5 months to become effective )

I have to take Prednisone with Budesonide because it takes 6 weeks to get to a therapeutic
level. I just get sicker during that time.

I returned to work Nov 17 after being on FMLA for 3 !/2 months. I was not well enough to
go back, so make sure you are ready and have a good support system. If I could I would still be home.

I hope it settles down for you!

Thanks everybody. I haven't told the new job yet, I need to go in to the IBD nurse to learn how to use humira and get my loading doses so I might need to let them know about it and the appointments, but I just find it so frustrating. I'd actually prefer not to tel work tbh, I feel like it was sort of used against me a bit in my last job :/

Hope everyone had a great Christmas, I'm on a low residue diet at the moment so didn't get to enjoy all the christmas treats, hopefully next year it will be a different story.

Hey Sammy - hope this cheers you up a little. I have crohn's and had a really rough time for about a year and a half after my daughter was born. When she started sleeping solidly through the night, I did too and it helped out tremendously. I started receiving remicade a little before her sleep improved, and imuran about half a year later. The combination of all three did wonders for me so I have my fingers crossed for you.
