pain during sex, irregular periods

I have always had issues with my period. It just doesn't come for months and when it does it lasts only 2-4 days. I used to be on the ortho evra but went off it because I couldn't maintain a decent schedule with it and my period was all over the place. anyway, my main concern is the pain during sex that has started in the past8 months or so. It's like my vagina muscles are always clenched or something and it is totally out of my control and painful to have any pressure near or in my vagina. It's a major bummer and I have no idea if it could be attributed to my benign ovarian cysts that come and go. i don't know what's going on but it's frustrating.

It might be. When I had a fibroid in my uterus I had terrible pain during sex, but (sorry to get graphic) only in certain positions. Maybe you should get it checked out with the OB/GYN-an abdominal ultrasound can give answers.

I feel so uncomfortable going to the gynecologist. I don't know why. Maybe it's the examination table and the fear of her pocking and prodding because it hurts >.< I don't understand it. Looks like i'm going to have to go in though even though I have been so good at putting it off.

I'd go see the gynecologist! That pain doesn't sound good, and you shouldn't be dealing with it. Your gyno would be the first person to talk to. and maybe you can get something thats easier to remember to make your periods regular like the ring I also find those appointments sorta nerve-racking, but just remember how many vaginas she sees a week! She isn't judging yours!

Hmph. I'm calling tomorrow. I heard there is a cream you can use while having sex that numbs your vagina enough so that it doesn't hurt. Hopefully it's something that will go away though and isn't crohn's related.

I definitely don't think this is the Crohn's, let the doc knows how bad it hurts; she can spray a numbing agent in you first. Of course, you won't be completely numb, so you can tell the doc where it hurts, etc. The abdominal ultrasound will be a little uncomfortable, but that is probably what will give you the full picture of what's going on inside.

Best wishes on the visit, have a drink or two before you go if your tummy can handle it. :) Keep us posted.

i have the worst pain during intercourse also figured ut was just me .i have a pap done every three months and they find nothing wrong.just seems if its not one thing its another.

It has been my personal experience that any gyn that can be described as a "she" will poke and prod without paying any mind to how it feels to the patient. I will only see male gyns because I find them to be -much- more gentle.

I'd see the doc...but many female problems are connected to IBD and underlying inflammation. I suppose it makes sense when you look at the proximity of the bowels and the female parts. I had adenocarcinoma in situ (pre cancer) of the cervix. The MD told me that feminine pain could definitely be linked to the IBD. Awesome, right? Like we don't have enough to deal with.
